Extremely dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Rita continues to threaten the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. The forecast track has shifted slightly to the northeast, increasing the risk to Southwest Louisiana, and a significant portion of the oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas Governor Perry is urging all coastal residents between Beaumont and Corpus Christi to evacuate as soon as possible.

Still, use a CO detector........even if they are outside.
Western side of Galveston Bay on the mainland (can't remember the town offhand). Of course, that may have changed with the storm track headed east.
LOLOLOL
For those in Texas who are watching and disgusted by the national coverage, switch over to TXCN.
TXCN is reporting that most of the small towns in the strike zone are empty and the Galveston-to-Houston roadways are *empty*.
Yikes, knew I forgot something! Actually, have to go back today for a cell phone or two. Lol, for the teen and of course will pay for it. Gotta brag here; middle school honor classes so taking a couple HS credit classes and asked to be gopher for HS so get to help them at football games and perform with HS UIL marching contest! Never mind I want to keep tabs during football season, but a cell phone is well deserved, don't ya think?
My sis and family left League City at 11:50 last night and arrived in Trinity at 5 this morning. My bro in law has always been a back roads kinda guy.
Yup, we're gonna clean up the nieghborhood. Where's my hockey mask?
It isn't showing up here so it took some work (view source, image title in google) but I found it!
Thanks - and yes, I DO UNDERSTAND!
But actually we use this one at home:
Missed it. What did he say?
After just looking at those photos...I can't imagine sitting in a parking lot on the highway. Glad to hear your bil knew the back roads.
I like Cantore, but if I hear him say "I have been to New Orleans and seen the damage," I am going to stroke out.
"What do they want the Pentagon to do? drop gasoline cans from planes alongside the expressway?
Excellent question. I'm sure someone smarter than me can figure something out for the folks stranded in their cars. All I can do is pray for them which I have been doing all afternoon.
I am not pointing fingers of blame anywhere. We are all Americans and I wish all those fine Texans Godspeed to safety SOON.
Our grandkids played some kind of a game where the first one to spot a VW yelled "punch buggy" and hit the kid sitting beside them. That game got out of hand quickly and had to be stopped.
Wussboy,
My 15 yo Texan daughter could kick yer ass and then make you eat all six of your cats.
We will use the fuel from our boat also in case the price of fuel gets even higher. Has there been any speculation on what fuel prices could reach? Where I live (Las Vegas) we can still find fuel around $2.80 per gallon, thinking of topping off the boat tonight...
FYI..NY POST has a blurb that Geraldo just got a daily talk show on the regular FOX network...gonna be 30 minutes..nation topics..replacing "A Current Affair" which was cancelled..supposed to start in Nov..
Most of them already have automated CO2 detection systems, and emergency backups, at least anything of recent construction does.
~LOL~ God didn't skimp on brains when he created Texas!
Careful with the gas cans in the trunk. Vapors get everywhere and one little spark...
Keep the cans in the open, well ventilated.
