Smoking Ban Meeting Planned For Tuesday
POSTED: 7:04 pm CDT September 19, 2005 UPDATED: 1:35 pm CDT September 20, 2005
MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Common Council is preparing to clear the air on the city's smoking ban Tuesday night.
Many of those who have rallied to repeal the smoking ban are expected to attend Tuesday night's common council meeting.
Three smoking-related things are on the agenda including an outright appeal of the ban, an amendment to allow businesses to apply for a hardship exemption and a proposal for a citywide referendum.
"It doesn't look like there's enough votes to repeal the ban," said Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. "And at this point, it doesn't look like there are enough votes for the other options as well. At this point, it looks like the smoking ban will remain in place."
Spokesmen for the group that supports repealing the smoking ban said they have eight of the 11 votes needed for repeal.

Bottom line, you encourage privacy in a Private place like my home, hotel or a restaurant but regret people spoiling public places by throwing their smokes in the non-designated areas in public places.
Bingo!!!!
You said it like it is...with out any spin like the other dumbo is trying to spin!!!!
To: anti-infidel
Hi, in what area do you work ?
To: velocityguy
Yo, I am into RF, pure analog, mixed signal CMOS.
You sound like you are into digital, custom and semi-custom digital, am I correct bro?
To: anti-infidel
Wow, good guess!
Yea, but these days I am doing a lot of stuff with developing effecient circuit models for Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Displays, Twisted Nematics (all kinds TN, STN, FSTN and CSTN) for LC Displays for wearable computing...prior to that I was the lead for uP group.
FReep mail me if you want to talk on the phone or Yahoo IM.
I would definitely like to know if you will be interested in helping me with Analog domain in one of the personal pet projects I am developing for hopefully next IEEECAS or DAC. I need some help with power amplifiers and current mirrors so we can co-develop it. It will be interesting if we succeed.
To: velocityguy
Great stuff. I almost forgot what a Cholesteric LC Display is. Anyways, email me at "optimizer_777[at]yahoo[dot]com" I sure would like to talk about it.
I did a lot of work in current mirrors, wilson current mirrors and some other $hit. E-mail me, we can talk more.

It works like this: after you've been here longer than a month (six more days for you), you earn the right to tell FReepers who've been here less than a month how to act. With the old hands, save the deportment lessons.

So if I am managing, analyzing my business unit's financial risks and rewards of my enterprise, I am sure he knows I am a better enterpreneur. An entrepeneur would have made a personal investment in the equipment and facilities required to perform his work. He would have personally raised the capital necessary to cover operating expenses; and that includes meeting the payroll for, say, 40 other people.
The founder(s) of the company may be entrepeneurs, you are not.
You have a budget you're required to operate within, this is not the same as being an entrepeneur.
You're a cog in a wheel, that's all, your obvious fascination with your own "intellect" notwithstanding.

You're a bore in general. Servants indeed. Did mommy make you a sandwich.

"I do not know what it is a "Kelo decision"."
I've told you where to find it. Have you bothered to look? In case you missed my other post, go to the "eminent domain" link at the top of FR. Read one of the many posted articles on the subject. If you can't find the link, type the word kelo in the FR search engine and hit enter. That will bring many articles as well.
Considering your lack of willingness to do these searches, I can only include that you might be inventive but you're not very resourceful.
Have you ever read the US Constitution?

Yes, I am against smoking in public places. However, banning smoking in public areas is a very good move. - #138
I love everything about USA. USA is the beacon of liberty, hope and compassion in this world. Do you think you and i can talk with this kind of freedom in countries like mine or others? - #144
Which is it? How do you support freedom and liberty while supporting the elimination of private property rights? Without private property there is no freedom. The constitution has more than 1 ammendment.

"Hey I am not telling you how to run your business. All I am saying like I mentioned earlier is smoking in public places...."
Nope, you would prefer that the government use their guns to dictate how a private business is run.

"I don;t answer questions from dumb people who cannot interpret a sentence correctly in thier own mother tongue!!!! "
How has the following statements been misinterpreted by anyone on this thread?
"I totally support banning smoking in all public places.
If people want to smoke, let them smoke in their own private areas instead of public places. As long as the smokers do not make the non-smokers victims of their second hand smoke, I believe it is well and good." #65
"Yes, I am against smoking in public places. I do not care what you do in your house or in your yard. It is none of my business. However, banning smoking in public areas is a very good move.
Smokers usually emit unbearable stench. It is very inconvenient to sit across the table with them and conduct business. Thats why, one by one I, along with another colleague cleansed my organization. I am proud of it." #138

I've had a different experience regarding the white collar and blue collar attitudes. I find that both are equally at risk for being socialists willingly confiscating other people's property.

I love the word "cleansed."

If your definition of "public" matches the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, then you do support these bans. For your reference, this is the definition of public (#4 and 6a apply): Main Entry: 1pub·lic Pronunciation: 'p&-blik Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English publique, from Middle French, from Latin publicus; akin to Latin populus the people 1 a : exposed to general view : OPEN b : WELL-KNOWN, PROMINENT c : PERCEPTIBLE, MATERIAL 2 a : of, relating to, or affecting all the people or the whole area of a nation or state b : of or relating to a government c : of, relating to, or being in the service of the community or nation 3 a : of or relating to people in general : UNIVERSAL b : GENERAL, POPULAR 4 : of or relating to business or community interests as opposed to private affairs : SOCIAL 5 : devoted to the general or national welfare : HUMANITARIAN 6 a : accessible to or shared by all members of the community b : capitalized in shares that can be freely traded on the open market -- often used with go - pub·lic·ness noun

"Private places are my home, your home, Olive Garden, Tejas TexMex grill etc. I don't care what private places do. They can do whatever they want smoke, drink, dance or whatever....its none of my business or the government's business."
Good to hear. Why did it take you 194 posts into the thread to clarify your position is different than the standard meaning of "public" as used in our language?
