Do you really think anybody believes Bush will attack North Korea? North Korea is much farther from Iraq than Libya. (Also have to deal with China). No way in hell Bush is attacking Iran, much less North Korea (though I wish he did when he had the chance).

What I want to know is, when do we get the Pueblo back?
Think.. Who cares? What was much more powerful and symbolic of the Pueblo incident was the character and behavior of the crew.
I say take it away, let the US start a new relation with the people of N. Korea.
What say you Mensch?

Wolf

Since this is exactly the same news that came out in 1994 under Clinton's watch, why should we expect a different outcome this time? North Korea has a well-established history of lying about their nuclear ambitions in order to secure economic favors from the gullible developed nations.

"the United States softened its stance of opposing North Korea keeping even a civilian nuclear program, citing its past history of diverting research facilities for weapons development in violation of international agreements"
This isn't anything to crow about, we just agreed to let them get away with it.

I agree that there is a very heavy trust issue that needs to be worked out, but Bush will stick to his side of the bargain, I'm sure.

While you might not believe he would attack, that isn't important. What is important is that North Korea believed we would attack. I am certain Russia and China helped promote that idea, which is why the 6=party talks were important.
There are lots of ways to accoomplish what you want besides blowing things up. Bush has long said he prefers diplomacy, and uses the military only when all else has failed. But he WILL use the military; that is the lesson North Korea has learned.

I read the original post which was lacking in details. North Korea says they'll stop their nuke program in exchange for aid. That much sounds very familiar.

BTW Freep has spellcheck.. ;)
I disagree there. I say N. Korea wins too, for that nuke program would have ultimately been their demise

Probably will get to sit on a balcony in Hollywood and sip smoothies with Alec Baldwin, Tim Robbins and the rest of the Film Actors Guild (F.A.G.)...
no really, peaceful uses of nuclear energy for North Korea??? somethings fishy here...
they dont' have enough population to justify the need for nuclear reactors for electricity.. North Korea has huge coal deposits (anthracite to be exact) and coal burning power plants that provide more than enough electricity to the northern half of the peninsula..
I think they may have engineered a way to enrich uranium from a light water reactor, which is the cats meow, no the holy grail of nuclear weapons development technology (fissionwise anyway).

Not only was Bush right again and as effective as with Lybia, but the liberals/Democrats were all suggesting our war should have been with North Korea and were making big points about this.
Shouldn't we now use this as a nuclear weapon folks against the Democrats/liberals that wanted us in a war that wasn't needed?
Slam Hillary, Democrats and the Peace crowd that wanted us to be in Korea.
