Roberts: Day Four Set to Begin
On Thursday, the members of the Senate Judiciary Cmte. continue with a third round of questioning. Then six different panels of out- side witnesses deliver their views on the professional and personal suitability of John Roberts to be appointed Chief Justice of the United States. This testimony will take the entire day.

Roberts says most people are't aware of this Court. Congress apparently set it up that way. Given the very unusual nature of the Court, those appointed must be outstanding jurists to sit on it, dedicated to civil liberties. Roberts says he cannot forcast what he will do, as he is not totally familiar with the Court at this time but will do the right thing.
Leahy quits.
The swimmer is up.....
I think when the Senators finish their questions the committee goes into closed session to her the FBI report on Roberts, then outside witnesses testify for and against Roberts in an open session.
I'm just getting back to listen
What was Leaky asking/worried about information getting out ??
A 10-8 vote from the Judicial committee would be an insult to the US Senate.
Discriminigation
Off subject quickie.
Where has the press gone?
If this isn't bias, what is:

Kennedy says the Founding Fathers didn't get civil rights "right" in the Constitution!
I respectfully disagree. The Dems have raised every hot button topic they have and Roberts has basically replied - you are trying to get me to say something that the MSM can run with and I respectfully decline to give you the bullet with which to shoot me. And oh by the way if you ask stupid questions I will make sure everybody recognizes it.
Roberts is one smart guy, with a sense of humor too. He has the makings of a great Chief Justice. Let's hope GWB gives him a fifth principled conservative Justice so that we can move forward as individuals and roll back the "nanny" state.
The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. - Proverbs 15:28
Yep.... Kennedy is about to ask him if congress can pass laws regarding rights of gays...
Roberts - I think we have the authority to take of discrimination on disability but in a particular case it may come up against the Constitution.
"The swimmer is up....."
Ugh. I noticed. Does this slug's mind have ANYTHING left in it except endless blathering about discrimination? What's wrong with these stupid RATS? They already HAVE the vote of the left - why do they have to keep pandering to them?
Kennedy really reaching, now questioning Disabilites Law.
GRAHAM: I know people don't like being labeled, Put me in that category. But I'm in a business where people label me all the time. But I ask for it, I run for office.
But we do tend in our business of politics to try to label people, particularly when we're talking about judges.
When the president introduced you to the United States, to the people of the United States, he said you were a strict constructionist. Do you know what he meant by that and why he chose to use those words?
ROBERTS: Well, I hope what he meant by that is somebody who is going to be faithful to the text of the Constitution, to the intent of those who drafted it, while appreciating that sometimes the phrases they used, they were drafting a Constitution for the ages, to secure the blessings of liberty for their posterity. They were looking ahead. And so they often used phrases that they intended to have...
(CROSSTALK)
GRAHAM: Does that term make you feel uncomfortable?
ROBERTS: No.
Now the swimmer is asking about the woman who had to crawl up a flight of stairs to reach the courtroom...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Check out who is coaching the Dems
WSJ: Dean of the Democrats - John Dean of Watergate fame will rep Dems at the Roberts hearing.
