NEW YORK In what seems to be destined to become one of the most yacked about photos of the month, if not year, a Reuters photographer today seems to have captured President George W. Bush scribbling a note to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice suggesting that he needed to take a "bathroom break" during a session at the United Nations.

I saw the image. A few things spring to mind:
  1. The "bathroom break" part of the note is printed.
  2. The hand (purportedly Bush's) that is writing on the note is writing in cursive.
  3. Bush does not print. Big Media has already complained elsewhere that his handwriting is hard to read.
  4. All I see is a note, a hand, and the back of a head. Perhaps this picture was taken at Kinko's?
  5. The fact that they think this qualifies as news sure shows how desperate, petty, and insane the liberal media has become.
I can't see how the clever people at Big Media don't understand that this is basically one of Bush's subordinates requesting a break for a call of nature. I'm sure if they had, they'd be mocking him for requiring his staff to submit such requests in writing.

" He didn't write that part of the note. That's not his handwriting. "

A simple Google Image of President Bush's handwriting illustrates that this is not President Bush's handwriting.
Why is that so hard for Reuters ??

Frankly, Reuters and this photog would receive some revocation of their credentials for this breach of protocol (and simple decency) if I were running things.

It's not. They know exactly what they're doing.

Remember how the media was perfectly happy to accept Gore's claim that he was out of the room on a bathroom break because of drinking too much iced tea? Of course, that was different.

I don't care whether the photo is accurate or not. At best it shows how petty the MSM is.

However, Bush writes in cursive in everything I've ever seen of his. That includes things he's personally given to me, as well as the notes we have in our company files from the time he was an oilman in Midland, Texas.

I've never seen him print anything. My samples are limited but they include stuff over the last 25 years.

Reuters uses the same Kinko's that Dan Rather did.

I'm with you. Bush is responding to the printed question. His response is written in cursive: "Is this possible..."

The two "I"s in the first line are completely different from Dubya's form of "I".

Also, if that is an "I" as part of a word in the 5th line, it is different from the "I" in the first line, too.

Doesn't Reuters follow responsible journalism? (/sarcasm)

Since when does the Secret Service allow someone get that close to a sitting president? Probably the answer is --- they don't.

Back in 2000 when President Bush was running he came to our town. My grandson got a picture with him and an autograph. I am pretty sure he signed it left handed. I remember thinking he is left handed like my husband.

I guess maybe I got too much of this crap during the Clinton years.....but here goes my parse.

The caption to the Reuters photo reads...."U.S. President George W. Bush writes a note to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during a Security Council meeting at the 2005 World Summit and 60th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York September 14, 2005. World leaders are exploring ways to revitalize the United Nations at a summit on Wednesday but their blueprint falls short of Secretary-General Kofi Annan's vision of freedom from want, persecution and war."

If this is his hand and pencil, then technically, he is writing a note to Condi, just not anything to do with needing a bathroom break.

Granted, I know that's weak, but nothing weaker than a Clinton could come up with.
