The Dem playbook
The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:
Kennedy -- civil rights
Leahy -- Bybee torture memo
Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment
Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties
Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade
Feingold -- limits of executive powers
Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

Watch the press try to throw mud on this lovely man and our pres versus watch Landrieu coming up.
Geeze, some days.
That was "Mr.President Wush".
LOL!
I missed that. Don't worry I have the old clips. I see Landrieu is trying to spread the blame some... too late.
Did you see the clip of Blanco getting ready for a CNN interview and she didn't know the camera was on? A must-see. You should have, we sent it out to the media a couple days ago. The Cadaver News Network yanked on it... hey news is news, so they had to backbite her.
Switch to c-span as the hearings resumed.
Don't forget about Bobby's son hiding behind the bushes.
Roberts: "It's not the job of the Court to solve society's problems."
Biden after Grassley..
If he truly believes that -- as I think he does -- he's exactly the right guy for the job.
Liberals are NOT going to like that.
Sen. Grassley just took a subtle jab at Justice Souter...
Ouch!
Judge Roberts was "diplomatic" LOL
Ugh.
It's like a parade of the most repellant Senate RATS imaginable.
Do you have a link to that clip of Blanco?
If not, can you tell me about it?
OWNED!
Off Subject Alert:
Mother Moonbat Heading to New Orleans
Cindy Sheehan cancelled her stop in Syracuse to head straight to New Orleans where she will continue her protest against the War in Iraq (http://www.nynewsday.com/news/local/wire/newjersey/ny-bc-nj--peacemom-nj0912sep12,0,4840588.story?coll=ny-region-apnewjersey). Cindy said Monday that she thinks the US never plans to leave the war toran country. She continued her attacks on President Bush on Monday in Pittsburg:
Shielded from the sun by a large tarpaulin, Cindy Sheehan walked to the microphone dressed in blue denim shorts and no shoes, then blasted the policies of President Bush.
"Every time Bush talks he should be removed from office," Sheehan screamed into the microphone. "None of the chicken hawks have served our country the way our children have," she continued, referring to Bush and members of his administration who support the Iraq war but did not fight in previous conflicts.
"Our boys were killed by the failed policies of this administration," she said. "There have been four failures of this administration: Sept. 11, Afghanistan, Iraq and now Hurricane Katrina. We have to force our leaders to listen to us."
I hear ya. With as red as Indiana is, why we can't have 2 SOLID conservatives is beyond me.
Yes indeed. John Roberts is a very smart man. But by his own admission, he is not an originalist or a constitutionalist in the mold of the Founding Fathers. He calls himself, a "modest". Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas aren't modests, and the late CJ William Rehnquist wasn't a modest either.
I think Roberts has done a good job so far in battling FatTed Kennedy and the other liberals on the committee.
However, Roberts answer regarding Romer v Evans case was disappointing. In that Coloardo case, the USSC overruled the will of the voters and said that special rights existed for homosexuals and bisexuals under law. Roberts said, he found nothing immoral about lending assistence to members of his law firm who were handling the case for those militant gay activists involved.
Roberts also said, he respected and admired SCJ Jackson, who was FDR's AG, for his ability to change his mind or opinion on a given issue. As AG Jackson had one set of standards. As a judge, Jackson had another set of standards. Roberts finds that an admiring quality.
Beats me, Pence should have run against Bayh!
Exactly. Chuckie will think that he's so much smarter than Ted (which is true) and that he'll be able to take on Roberts (good luck w/ that).
Specter was clever to say that any Senator can question Roberts for as long as he or she wants (after rounds 1 & 2). I would be surprised if the 'Rats will be in any shape to hang w/ Roberts after ONE round, much less more than two!
Roberts never hesitates in answering questions and the knowledge and recall that he has at his finger tips is impressing me BIG time. Excellent choice, Mr. President!
