If that happens all we're gonna hear is "George Bush doesn't like black people and hates migets".

If the Dept. of Water & Power is run anything like SBC global... that would explain it.

Can this be the follow up of the threat? Could be the first strike. Imagine, learning about what happened to those many people in New Orleans. No power, no means to warn the people, and then the levies break.
Move that thinking to LA. Knock out the power, limit the means to warn people, and then set off a dirty bomb.
Just a guess. *shrug*
My prayers are with the people of LA.

So lets see...if this reporting will be like the Hurricane coverage (as just a recent example). Los Angeles without power will simply turn out to be a couple bulbs broken and 3 people have stubbed toes.

The power outage in LA has made my last 45 mins here at work easy and I'm in Florida. Our computer system is linked to a system in LA so its not working.
It is amazing how system failure in one part of the country can affect the rest of the country as well.
Hopefully it is nothing serious and not caused by any terrorists.

"Is the city filling up with water?"Nope. In Los Angeles someone from the Owens Valley might well be taking water, but nothing would be going in. I say this as a former resident of Lone Pine, BTW.

Looking at the Breaking News sidebar I think the outage has something to do with pink triangles.

I think the official cause was "anything but Islamic terrorism".

CNN showing several large fires seem to be burning in the LA area I hope an EMP is not the cause of the outage...
A large substation fire would wreak havoc on power...
