A German security official is quoted as saying nearly five-thousand potential Islamic suicide attackers could be living in Germany.
The Bavarian interior minister (Guenther Beckstein) tells an online newspaper these include people ready to fight in Iraq and Chechnya. He says such cells of "fanatics" could prepare suicide attacks without detection.
Beckstein has long argued that security laws toughened after the September eleventh attacks in the United States are still too soft.

Yeah, well, since just about any motivated, observant muslim could be a suicide bomber, the only surprise is that the number is so low.

OK, I believe there are terrorists in Germany but where did they get the 5000 number? Sounds like a lot to me.
How did they cut the number down to five thousand? I thought that there were hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Germany.
Sure there are that many bombers in Germany. I didn't get to enjoy Dreseden the first time, but I've got a bag of popcorn and HDTV ready for the next time the ovenstuffers of Germany catch hell.

The was an article in "Der Speigel" last month about Islamofacist's war plans. My German was rusty but it demonstrated a plan to bring a WW by 2020. It also showed Madrid and London to be part of the attacks. Does anyone have a proper English translation?

5000 is pretty scary. Even if it were 500 that would be high.

Can someone please tell me why Islam has not been declared illegal? Are we too afraid to do so?
This is ridiculous. I wouldn't deny that there are maybe some sucide bombers among the muslim population of Germany, but 5000? Even the Palestinians in Israel have problems to recruit their "living" bombs, although their compatriots probably have more reason (in their point of view) to detonate themselves.
BTW - most muslims in Germany are from Turkey and arranged themselves with the German people. Their women sometimes wear headscarfs and the men work usually in underprivileged jobs. Most of them are apolitical and for sure no terror-problem. There are some difficulties with the young male Turks, but this has more to do with their underprivileged status and normal crime. In France the fraction of potential terrorists is much higher because their Muslims are from North Africa. Not to speak about the U.K. with their Pakistani fraction. Although the terror problem is much worse there, you will find no European country 5000 sucide bombers.
Pssst, have you heard the one about all the nuclear weapons that terrorists have already smuggled into the U.S.? There's HUNDREDS of them.
