Lt. Rodney Neighbors of the Garland County Sheriffs Department says an 18-year-old Louisiana man has been arrested for and charged with rape.
Glenn Dorsett is accused of raping a 13-year-old mentally challenged girl from New Orleans at the Assembly of God church campground on Hwy. 7 that has been set up for hurricane evacuees. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
Lt. Neighbors says Dorsett's adult arrest history since he turned 18 years old includes Louisiana charges of aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal use of weapons, terrorizing, disturbing the peace, criminal trespass, manufacturing - distribution - possessing a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and crack cocaine. Neighbors says his juvenile history is unknown.

What's your ideal execution? Be creative and it can be unusual but not cruel.

As soon as he's convicted, put him to work picking up the dead in NO, THEN put him in prison for the rest of his sorry a$$ life.

New Orleans had a horrible crime rate. There's no doubt we've transplanted much of the criminal element to other cities.

If you hear of it being addressed by Gov Perry or LEOs
please post it here. I cant find much on the subject through yahoo searches or local papers.
The best approach would be to nab them before they do their crime here, surely our authorities are doing something.
I wonder if our LEOs have access to NOLA's
crime records or sex offenders or if they were flooded.
Its surprising the local media isnt mentioning the subject much.
I will continue to search for news on this subject and post it whether good or bad.
Texas isnt organized on this front imo. Not that we could be on such short notice and overwhelming numbers.
Ps: To any law abiding Katrina refugees, welcome to Texas.

Governor Perry isn't go to say anything publicly until the situation stabilizes and the recovery effort in New Orleans is over. The danger of vilifying all the refugees for the sins of the few is too high.
I just hope it's being dealt with behind the scenes.

I agree, its a shame the media cant admit we have some very unwelcome criminals while at the same time reminding
everyone that most are good people.
Hopfully the crime aspect is being dealt with behind the scenes.
