Red Cross: State rebuffed relief efforts Aid organization never got into New Orleans, officials say BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (CNN) -- Louisiana officials rebuffed American Red Cross requests to enter New Orleans with relief supplies last week because of concerns over logistical difficulties, Red Cross and state officials said Thursday. The Red Cross never launched its relief effort in the city. The national president of the American Red Cross, Marsha Evans, first made the request to undertake the operation during a visit to the state on September 1, three days after Hurricane Katrina struck, a local Red Cross chapter official said. p>

CNN finally picked up the story ??

They must have finally digested the polling data which reveals that only 10% of the population (the drooling idiots of the far Left) believe the false construction of a story blaming Bush for every malady that has ever occurred in recorded history, especially now that this scheme is being completely deconstruced by the facts.

Heck, even Nagin and Blanco are going after each other. What would General Patton have said? "I've got to get back into this war before it's over. Hell, even Hitler's own people tried to kill him the other day." I'm still waiting for the sneering Leftist Russert to begin demanding their resignations.

I thought I saw and heard either Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton today state that Red Cross was told to back off by Homeland Security. I wonder if they had the story wrong

Technically, they had the story right. The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security kept the Red Cross and Salvation Army out of the city.

Every State has its own National Guard. It's not a federal thing, nominally.

We need to keep on this and not relent no matter how long it takes to get it all out in the open. The only reason it's being forced forward is because we're not letting it go.

I would suggest that the Governor and Mayor be removed from office, but maybe this is what they deserve in Louisiana. They don't seem intent on taking any action.

At least they got the gist of the story out. That opens the door for others, like Major Garrett to do the real work and not be ignored.

Goodness, Nancy Pelosi must have really p.o.ed anchorette Kyra Phillips tonight for the whole station to bite the hand that feeds them.

The Director of the Louisianna DHS (guy at the center of this story) is supposed to be on Nightline tonight.

That takes guts. Would that be Major General Bennett C. Landreneau?

Louisiana Gubernatorial Recall Petition signature requirements: 33.3% of eligible voters for office at time of last election.

Petition circulation time: 180 days.

Results of successful Recall: Recall Election would be followed by separate Special Election for a successor.

That's what I'm talking about. Let's impeach these folks in our pajamas and bunny slippers, just like we did with Dan Rather.

The national president of the American Red Cross, Marsha Evans, first made the request to undertake the operation during a visit to the state on September 1, three days after Hurricane Katrina struck, a local Red Cross chapter official said.

This is not consistent with what Major Garrett at Fox News reported. Major Garrett says that the Red Cross was denied access to New Orleans on Monday, August 29.

There is a world of difference between August 29 and September 1.

Thanks for posting this.

[sarcasm] From the article it sounds like the state had everything under control and people in New Orleans got everything they needed pretty soon from the guard. Why all the fuss in the news about Bush and FEMA being delayed since everything was A-OK?[/sarcasm]

Seriously, if the Red Cross had handled feeding the people, the Guard could have been rescuing more people...like the medical personnel and the patients stuck in the hospitals.

I caught part of the Aaron Brown show on CNN tonight.I had to look twice to make sure it was CNN.They were showing the Governor saying something to the effect that they needed buses to get the people out, then CNN cut to a picture of all the buses underwater.

I tell you I was shocked!!

I posted on 8/30 that:

……In fact there is a convoy of 50? Trucks full of relief supplies out of Dallas once again awaiting destination instructions. (Fuzzy as to where I read/heard this) ……

This may very well be the supplies that Major Garrett was talking about.

Once again the media gets it wrong.

They are STILL not allowed into New Orleans by state officials.
