Senate just passed Cedillo's SB 60 - Drivers Licenses for Illegals. Assembly passed it last night. It now goes to the Governor
They elected them. That's the short answer.
I'm about to throw the towel in. It's clear "the people" don't have much say in the country anymore.
These DumRats are like kids who keep bugging their parents for what they want until the parents give in and say "yes".
Happens all the time in Cali. If the governor says "no", and the Calif voters say "no". They can always count on the Calif courts to say "yes".
Rush made this observation today as well. He's betting by vetoing the gay marriage bill Arnold's approval ratings will go up significantly.
Now with this opportunity to veto another bill THAT FLIES IN THE FACES of the MAJORITY of Californians who VOTED on these issues already, it has to go up even further.
Schwarzenegger on Driver Licenses for illegal aliens during a December 2003 Interview with Weintraub:

Reporter:
"You did say that to me when we talked one on one (Sept. 6, 2003) that you would consider a package deal that would have included a requirement of insurance for those people that are going to get the drivers license. That I know is something that you believe in. Do you also believe that all undocumented immigrants will be able to get a drivers license if they present insurance, if they have a background check, fingerprints?
Governor:
"Absolutely...yes. This is what we are going to work on. This is what we are going to talk about, but right now the most important thing is to get this passed (the repeal of SB 60) so we can move to other issues. I think Senator Cedillo was extremely gracious and helpful with this whole thing. He is a great leader, he understood what would be the best thing for California; rather than just doing an immediate fix, but to make everybody happy. It doesn't make sense if the majority of Californians run around and hate the idea of undocumented immigrants having drivers licenses because there is no background check, because it doesn't solve the problem with insurance. Let's do it the right way, let's make every Californian happy and let's make the undocumented immigrants happy."
No towel-throwing!
Just get even (somehow). : )
Sad and dejected *ha*
Ooops... Weintraub just published the text of that interview.
It also was an interview with Univision:
--"In an interview Monday with Univision 19 anchor Pablo Espinoza..."
Keep your chin up....and keep the faith....
maybe the answer's right around the corner.
Maybe people will wake up before it's too late.
No towel-throwing allowed....unless it's at the idiots. : )
prop 187 was the will of the people. Arizona recent prop #___?? has so far been upheld by court. Anyone know if a suit was filed? California is hopeless. He is going to veto the gay marriage bill isn't he or is he going to cave in on it at the last minute.
I too can't wait until we leave this state. Just trying for find a nice conservative state with smallest amount of illegals, liberals. If we could just carve out our city and move it out of CA.
Maybe the legislators are just attempting to cater to the illegal vote -they know they can party like its 1994 because Ahhhnuld is the designated driver...
Prop 200, approved by 57% of the voters, including huge percentage of Hispanic voters, dragged thru courts and liberal gov office, diluted and watered-down so much that it is still easier to vote than to rent a movie.
Boy, the Legislature's really going for the jackpot: homogamy and illegal alien driver's licenses in the same week.
And I can't seem to find a state without illegals - thought Indiana had hope but apparently one town near Notre Dame is completely overrun. Every sign was in Spanish, locals can't find work, and day laborers and criminals hanging out in public....
Veto in 5...4...3...2...
Schwarzenegger has consistently claimed that he supports driver licenses for illegal immigrants."I have said it during my campaign. I've said it to Sen. Cedillo and I have said it ever since I got into office that I want every undocumented immigrant to have a driver's license," the governor told reporters earlier this month.
"But," Schwarzenegger cautioned, "we have to solve the security issue the problem we have of identifying who the people are."
Schwarzenegger, a legal immigrant, said security is his priority.
"It has nothing to do with a mark, or with a Jewish star, or any of that. It has to do only with one thing and this is to make it different so it's acceptable to the California people and it is also just for driving legally and not for anything else."
lovely.
