Major Garrett is talking with Britt and reported that a Red Cross representative told him the LA state homeland security department refused them permission to take food and water to the Superdome because they did`nt want to encourage people to go there.
They wanted to get people out and were afraid that providing support would be a "magnet" atttracting more displaced persons.
To paraphrase, the state was looking to discourage people through hardship out of the Superdome. All the aid in the world wouldnt have gotten through.
WHO is the "LA state homeland security department" and I want names......?
Bitt, Brit, no matter. I'm glad you posted this news. After I saw the report I came here straight away, knowing I'd find it. Eventually. ;-) Couldn't wait to see what the Freepers were saying. Thanks for posting!
Many thanks for the ping, Guennie.
What an interesting interview. I'm going to try to catch it rerun on PST!
Disgusting but understandable when you realize whom you are dealing with.
Thanks for thread carl & ping springmna
........and just who contacted FEMA with this important information? ----nobody. It's like complaining the plumber didn't come to your house to fix the big leak, when nobody called the plumber.
Thanks..
IEM President and CEO Madhu Beriwal is the recipient of a special merit award from the Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association ( LEPA ) for her work in New Orleans hurricane emergency preparedness.
Special Merit Award? She should return it.
I would have given this kid a medal.
Individual initiative... adapting... overcoming obstacles.
Someone ought to recruit this kid into the service before they lose track of him.
Yes and "Did you deliberately withold food and water from the survivors at the convention center because they were black?"
Hume talked to Major Garrett, Fox News correspondent, who was in the studio and answered the question.
(Excerpt from video tape):
Garrett: "The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security told them (the Red Cross) they could not go."
Hume: "And this is Louisiana ..... this isn't the Louisiana branch of the Federal Homeland Security. This is ....
Garrett: "The state's own agency devoted to the state's Homeland Security. They told them, they cannot go there. Why? The Red Cross tells me that state agency in Louisiana said, "Look. We do not want to create a magnet for more people to come to the Superdome or the Convention Center. We want to get them out."
Garrett: "So, at the same time local officials were screaming, 'Where's the food? Where's the water?', the Red Cross was standing by ready, the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security said 'You can't go.'
(End of excerpt from video tape.)
"Boy this Karl Rove fellow is Evil."
Priceless.

I've been through Wyoming three times in the last three years on vacation. You could hide the Chinese army in that state and no one could find it. Adding a few million new residents wouldn't change much of anything. It's huge. But my favorite state to drive through. Wind Canyon was the new spectacular experience this year.
True, but they never REALLY cared about them anyway.
My Daddy was in WWII and had the same opinion of them. He said they would never get a dime from him. I've heard others from that era say the same.
He ought to get a medal for what he did. He saved lives while the pukes "in charge" in LA dithered.
Major also reported on the "memo" from Brown to Chertoff.
He said, the memo was written five hours after Katrina made landfall, from Brown's office in Baton Rouge where he had JUST landed to take charge of the operation. He had been enroute and sent it as soon as he landed. And Major made a point to stress that the memo was written five hours after the hurricane made landfall but BEFORE the levee broke.
Major was great! I'm so glad Brit is back.
Pelosi calls the POTUS "oblivious" and "in denial."

Isn't it amazing how they apply words and terms to others that are so accurately descriptive of themselves and their own, like Blank-O for example?
You are right on target with your comments below. Get this stuff out on the internet, talk radio, Fox News and hopefully some of the MSM.
Then it can't be hidden in committees by liberal lawyers like $inator Hildebea$t.
