WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday recalled 3.8 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles for a cruise control switch suspected of causing engine fires. It is the fifth largest auto industry recall in U.S. history.
Ford said the recall of 1994-2002 model-year vehicles includes the company's hot-selling F-150 pickup truck, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Ford Broncos. The company said it would start sending out recall notices to vehicle owners immediately.

I saw the Alabama flag on your profile page.
You're a few miles from Western Oregon. ;)

Anybody talking about the Toyota recall on the Forerunner? Evidently a tie rod might break when turning the wheel while stopped.

I own a 1999 F-150. Looks like I'll be running it down to the dealer. I have a 2000 F-150. Best vehicle I've ever owned.
It's only an electric switch at the brake fluid reservoir. Only takes minutes to replace, no charge.
I walked across the street and ate a hamburger, by the time I got back it was done.
It's not a big deal. Everyone else can drive their dangerous European style go carts. I be keeping my F-150. It pays for itself.
The Ford F-150, I might add is the best selling vehicle in America for the past 20 years.

cruise control switch suspected of causing engine fires So THAT'S why I've been able to light my cigarettes using the cruise control switch!

The escape wouldn't hold our ice cooler in the back. If your going to by a smaller, mid sized SUV, get Toyota 4-runner.
Truck? Ford F150. Best selling vehicle in America for the past 20 plus years.
To: blackie
Precisely! Thanks for the notice.

Out of many thousands of F150s manufactured, only a very few had problems.

I have a 92 F150. But the Ranger gets 22 - 25 mpg. I drive 40-50 k a year. The Escape is for wife's commuting.

Toyota is a almost a sacred cow because of their early hi-bred (Prius) that is the sweetheart of the moonbat crowd.

Sounds close enough for me ~ I haven't driven any farther East than Montana.
I drove big rigs for 31 and never left the greater SF Bay Area. ;)
