Public Skeptical New Orleans Will Recover Criticism, but little outrage, for Bush's and federal agencies' response to hurricane
by David W. Moore

...
Despite widespread criticism of the response by Bush and, separately, the federal government, to the problems caused by the hurricane, the public seems on balance only mildly critical. Forty-two percent say Bush did a "bad" (18%) or "terrible" (24%) job, but 35% rate his response as either "great" (10%) or "good" (25%).
...
When asked to identify who was most responsible for the problems in New Orleans after the hurricane, 38% of Americans said no one was really to blame, while 13% cited Bush, 18% the federal agencies, and 25% state and local officials.
...
Few Americans feel that any top official in the agencies responsible for handling emergencies should be dismissed from office -- just 29% say someone should be fired, while 63% disagree.

Pelosi Galore's throat could swallow California if she wanted to.
Humbling!!! They'll shamelessly try again and again...
Chris Matthews will slit his wrists over this. So will Olbermann.
I agree with you about the president not being able to take the next step without the governor's sayso, short of pushing the country to civil war. My point was that the question "Do you blame Bush" is way too broad and includes those who blame him completely, those who blame him a little, and those who blame the governor but still have a smidgeon of blame for Bush for not just knocking her aside. The question is designed to garner the maximum anti-Bush numbers without explaining any of the "nuances" (if you'll pardon me for using a Kerry-esque word!)
How about Laura Ingraham, Anne Coulter (she needs to take it easy on judge Roberts), for a start º. You will never know, may be some of the good looking babes on FR would like to work for a conservative cable news network º
I do to hope that one day Murdoch will have Brit Hume show on the Fox network and not just only on Foxnews.
You can now expect the MSM to ratchet up the attacks on Bush.
Great post Soul Seeker, as usual.
I agree. Shep and Geraldo were unbearable. I wrote Fox several e-mails and turned off the TV. My husband leaves the house if I turn it on anyhow. Thank goodness for FR!!
The question was about the performance before and after the Hurricane. I am sure that all people polled understood this.
Your source for this opinion? BTW, you DO realize that when you poll LIKELY or REGISTERED voters you move the numbers 3-5 points in the Presidents direction. Notice also that they did NOT ask "Who do you blame more" comparison questions. Serious pollers usually do NOT ask these "Feel" questions because most people when asked "How do you feel" they immediately answer negatively. I mean you just spent 30 bucks gassing up the SUV, your kid still hasn't mowed the lawn and your wife say you and her "need to have a talk". So in the middle of all that some jerk on the phone asks you how you "FEEL" about something? Keep in mind, 45% of these people (more in an off year) do NOT vote. So who do you think is going to be STRONGER in their opinions. People who care enough to follow the issues and actually KNOW what is going on or people who heard the tag end of a headline on the radio and haven't actually paid attention? When they asked if they BLAMED Bush, not "Felt he did a bad job" the Dinosaur Media can ONLY generate a 13% blame response. Got to be really careful of overreacting to any "poll" like any other statistic they can be spun to say what ever the publisher wants to say.
Do you think the New York Times will cover this?
And Rush is doing a wonderful job, too. Nice to see a neighbor post from the "other" side of the river.
Not only that, you poll anyone who answers the phones which means the 45%+ who don't bother to vote. If they don't care enough to vote, how close do they follow the issues? Not only that, there is a strong anti-authority steak in Americans. Anytime you ask about any authority figure a good chunk of people are going to tell you they suck JUST because they are in power.
Well, as of August 26th, the day which Blanco declared an emergency, President Bush authorized DHS and FEMA to coordinate disaster relief for affected areas. When relief was supposed to come so much ahead of time at a Federal level, I find it hard to blame local authorities for response shortcomings. So when klinton appointees come in during a period of shortcomings, you can excuse me if I don't join in with the back patting and see this as a failure on a FEDERAL level. I had cousins in Louisiana whom I didn't hear from until yesterday and I thank god that they got out with what little injuries they have. They still have friends and family that they haven't heard from, I'm beginning to doubt some of them will be heard from again. Once again, I am upset and am not about to give credit where it's not due. I have never been more let down by this administration.
Just how much positive coverage did the NY Times give to Candidate Bush in 2000 and in 2004? BTW, why are so many "conservatives" all so worried about what they Dinosaur Press says? Do you think ONE day they are MAGICALLY going to quit being DNC Propaganda Whores and ACTUALLY report the news? This mindset makes me wonder if you had lived in 1943, would you of been tuning into Radio Berlin and Tokyo Rose to get the "News"? Of Course not. So why do you listen to propagandists every bit as biased at the NY Lies?
