Ah...so they decided to get in there. Good. Do you think JanetJanet had a chat with them? ;o)
listen to the media scum questioning admiral Keating right now. every single question uses the word "delay", "delay", "delay".
Lots of posts on the general subject. The law you are referring to is Possee Comitatus, and forbds the use of active duty military to perform civilian police function.
The National Guard is not active-duty military, and can be used as the civil authorities (governor) direct. Federalizing of a National Guard response is possible, but requires either a request from the governor, or the governor to be in violation of federal law (e.g., use of Fed Nat'l Guard to enforce school bussing). The President offered to have this disaster response (actually, just NOLA) federalized, and Blaco turned down the offer.
And now I was just reading that the Today show today was droning on about how there are TOO many military in NO. A day or 2 ago there weren't enough, now too many.
You can't ever please people like this.
No Good Deed Goes Unpunished as Today Show Now Frets Too Many Troops in New Orleans
Greg,
I've added your analysis to my home-page FR Links. Thanks for the excellent work.
It won't stop because they now know the Majority do not hold Bush accountable, of those that do hold him to blame, only about 22% believe it wholely on his shoulders and have intense hatred. and 3/4ths hold local/State accountable while only 2/3rd's hold Feds accountable. This when the facts hadn't been loudly trumpeted on most of our numedia! Infact, while much of our nuMedia was hyperventiliating and spreading erroneous information.
The MSM, of course, feels it just hasn't got it's message out and will keep shouting because we're too stupid to demand the President's impeachment for Nature and Dems incompetance.
The Dems will keep going because the Dems are in trouble in LA. This will reflect badly on all of them even out of state, so they are huddling up.
Reason given for pulling that thread: let the original poster post it.
Hope you will, comitatus!
Thanks for the info. It's coming in handy with some of the idiots I'm discussing this with.
They count on the short memories of their viewers.
Media bias has been fairly transparent for a decade or two or three, but it's real easy to see now, and it (the media) has to fend off critics that it didn't have before.
They won't go down easy, and they aren't as powerful an influence over the public as they used to be.
That's the kind of thinking that led to this mess.

Don't waste time arguing with idiots, unless it's entertaining for you.
There are some who just want to argue, I just want to have my facts straight when I say something.
"It's coming in handy with some of the idiots I'm discussing this with."
Where are you people finding all of these libs that listen to facts??
Everybody I know - even some conservatives - are in full-screech, and no amount of fact and logic can break through.
Maybe I need to choose my circle of friends and acquaintances more carefully, next time.
