Per AP on the FOX News Channel
NEW ORLEANS - Police shot eight people carrying guns on a New Orleans bridge Sunday, killing five or six of them, a deputy chief said.
Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said the shootings took place on the Danziger Bridge, which connects Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.
He said he had no other details.
I thought I had read about stolen uniforms and I remember seeing someone wandering around with a police vest. Someone who was obviously not a policeman.
I have no idea .. that is all FNC knew ... they are still trying to find out more about what happen
Considering the earlier report was "thugs crossing a bridge" the odds are pretty darn high this is the same incident.
Whoa! Sounds like a juicy black-op. I'd love details, but I'm pretty sure that they are classified due to Free Republic Security. When will they become declassified? 2075, perhaps?

Thank you, this makes some sense. The MSM needs to calm down and evaluate stories before reporting. They won't though. When your bottom line is "Bush did it." , fact checking becomes earier.
When I heard police shot contractors I couoldn't help but be suspect, especially if they are working with the ACoE.
They would probably be very recognizable, if not hard hats, at least some sort of work uniform, radios, toolbets, shirts tucked in, etc.; I don't know any cops, regardless of where they come from, who could make a mistake like that; and just start blasting away.
Excellent. Nothing made me madder about this whole thing than the idiots firing on those trying to help. If these guys were firing on the contractors, they got just what they deserved!

What's worse that the "I saw it on the TV so it's true" mentality is the "I didn't see it on the tv so it's not true" mentality.

I saw head of FEMA NIT WITT on MSNBC blaming BUSH because he said "5000" National Guard were in Iraq. That's right NITT WITT degrade the War. Only 5000 that is not allot any way. President Bush should start opening his mouth he lets people step all over him.
Just heard the same on ABC radio news.
