Orleans, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco has yet to declare a state of emergency and refuses to cede authority over rescue efforts to the federal government. "Shortly before midnight Friday, the Bush administration sent her a proposed legal memorandum asking her to request a federal takeover of
The wheels are coming off the Dem spin machine. Boy is the Dinosaur Media going to be PISSED. Same info in Washington Post for those who sneer at the "conservative News Max"

Though her state has been devastated by Hurricane Katrina and thousands are believed dead in New Orleans, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco has yet to declare a state of emergency and refuses to cede authority over rescue efforts to the federal government. She's just making sure she gets her cut of the contracts to rebuild New Orleans.

I am sure the fact that she hired the ex head of FEMA (under Bill Clinton) to help out in the state is part of the equation
It sounds like she is trying to keep this "In House"

If this is true, she is more than incompetent.
The Washington Post hates to print anything good about Bush, so it seems very likely that the main person responsible for the evacuation catastrophe was the Governor.

The Mayor of N.O., the Governor of Louisiana, and Senator Mary Landreau (spell?) all are in MAJOR spin mode blaming the Federal Goverment for the situation in New Orleans...the facts will come out---as the dead body count rises in the Big Easy the politics will get uglier.

This just boggles the mind. Your largest city is under water, 100's of thousands displaced, 10's of thousand more probably dead, and she doesn't consider this an emergency!?
One wonders what it would take for Gov. Blanco to consider it an emergency.

This is likely the cause of all delays in getting help to Louisana. A giant P*ssing contest between the Red democrats who don't want to be out of the loop on all this aid, and the Feds who want to come in and manage things their way.
The Feds need to keep up the non-partisan aspect of this until the democrats are exposed for what they are: A weak minded bunch of bureaucrats intent on keeping their share of the pie.
