I thought the same thing but then went back to look; the article was released to the internet on the 3rd but the actual date of the article is the 4th.

If anyone can find a way to contact the reporters of the WaPo article, please let me know. I've looked and can't find it.

Senator Landrieu, wonder if she is still guiding and directing the sitting governor.

Sure hope somebody asks her why nobody in New Orleans, or in her office, had a mind to use alll those now water logged school buses.

Chris Dodd on FNS just suggested that O'Connor "hold on" for a while - evidently he believes the Senate can't handle two confirmations at once. Cornyn very politely slapped him around, rhetorically speaking that is...

Russert (twisted the facts): officials 'expect 10,000 deaths' due to the lack of response.

[Tim, the 10,000 were dead due to the surge flood. Tim, most of them were dead before the full hurricane cleared out of the gulf area.]

This is a massive failure of state and local govt. and will be proven to have been so in the end.

I've said it over and over again and I'll say it on THIS thread.

The visuals of this storm and its aftermath are too vivid.

Soccer Moms and Dads across the land are watching and they know what they see with their lying eyes.

This early attempt to cast aspersions on Bush and the Feds are but trial balloons.

It won't wash.

Just undoing the damage of that single pic of all the NO buses under water will prove impossible.

Schumer the Pinhead* - "I hope President Bush asks Justice O'Connor to stay on as Chief Justice for at least a year..."

I humbly apologize in advance to any circus pinheads whom I may have accidentally insulted by comparing them to the senior Senator from New York.

That picture of the hundreds of parked and flooded school buses in NO should counter ANY defense of the mayor.

Hmmm. Dodd said pretty much the same thing on FNS. DNC talking points?

I chose this screen because of the book, and also my belief that the black preacher in the story, who said the nuclear war was our punishment, as defined in the Bible's Book of Revelation (and hence the name of the book) was on to something. As a Christian, whenever I read Revelation I have to wonder what nation is so rich, so powerful, so mercantile, that ship captains would cry when they find out about her destruction, and just how it would be possible to destroy such a nation in one hour.... I can't help but worrying for my country. Of course, I chose the screen name back in the Clinton era.

Thanks Peach.
Sorry if I am so fired up already but I just got through watching the Matthews crew try and butcher the Adm. with a pack of lies so heavy even Arnold could not lift it.

Yep, Chris Dodd just said on Fox News Sunday O'Connor should stay until at least January '06 because we've got so much on our plate: Iraq, Katrina and maybe a third vacancy on the court.

The Democratic party is once again showing how their drive for power trumps the good of the nation.

LOL

MTP:

Screen goes blank when Chertoff is talking. [Reminds me of the time time SoS Powell disappeared from MTP screen.]

Full court press to blame the administration for this. I wonder if Tim even thought to ask Blanco and Nagin to come on the show and answer a few hard questions.

Dodd wants more time to "focus" on the situation. That's code for we need more time to dig through the dirty laundry and make up more charts!
