From LGF

The Ray Nagin Memorial Motor Pool. Hundreds of buses, abandoned and unused during the evacuation, now leaking tons of diesel fuel and motor oil into the already toxic water.

"I'm expecting that some people who are diehards will die hard."

Aaron Broussard, president of Jefferson parish, New Orleans, on those who refused to leave

"People need to get off their fricking asses and get me some goddam resources. We are sitting here on day five of the US's worst national disaster and people are still dying. All I need is a couple of hundred extra troops and buses. It's a national disgrace."

>Sooooo.... YOU knew it was going to be that bad? <

Uh, I didn't say that, but now that you mention it, there's been information available that if NO was ever hit by a Class 5, it would flood.

Get off your high horse.

"MAYOR RAY NAGIN, NEW ORLEANS: I keep trying to find resources. We're making calls, we're trying to find resources all across the country. I'm screaming at the -- excuse me -- I'm screaming at the governor and the president, you know?"

Oh yes, I'm just sure he's screaming at the President. The President took him to the woodshed on Friday on Marine 1. I suspect the President told him to sit down, shut up and hang on - the adults are taking over you bumbling, disgraceful idiot.

"Schumer just told George Step that O'Connor should stay as CJ for a year - Bush should ask her"
Right... and why is that? Just so they could delay another appointment confirmation into the next administration

You got it. Are these people transparent or what? Cheese husk rice.

Tim Russert is just another lying scum fraud.......... and his face, by the way, is getting uglier by the day.

His inner hatred and bias is starting to contort his rotten countenance!

I can't say I hate him...........but....

That thanking of the levee board tells me that they KNOW that the feds are going to find out about massive corruption.

You got it, and this goes a long way toward explaining the hysteria on display by all the New Orleans and Louisiana officials. Corruption and graft is just a way of life in Louisiana democrat politics - these people are actually proud that ex-felons like Huey Long and Edwin Edwards were once governors of Louisiana. Too many people in LA just chuckle about the graft and look the other way and think it's kind of "cute."

It brings to mind something I read about the late John Gotti once. Apparently he had this habit of throwing big lavish Fourth of July parties for his neighborhood, complete with BBQ and a huge fireworks show. The author of the article interviewed one of Gotti's neighbors at one of these parties. This guy just sat there munching on a plate of food and telling the writer what a great guy Gotti was and how he had done so much for the neighborhood, even though he knew what Gotti really was, a cheap low-life thug who had murdered God only knows how many people and was responsible for much of the flow of drugs into NYC. That's the kind of mindset we're dealing with here in Louisiana.

A lot of people in the state are getting sick and tired of the graft and the jokes about it all over the nation, and that's why the GOP has steadily been making inroads there. But the rot runs deep, probably deeper than anywhere else in the US.

These locals know that Katrina will rip the scab off this oozing pustule once and for all and lay it out there for everyone to see, and I'm guessing that the DNC is equally terrified that they will be implicated in the mess as well (and let's face it, you just know they've been benefitting for decades). So all they can do is break down and cry and point fingers at the federal government in an attempt to deflect attention away from them and their criminal activities.

Another point - they're trying a big gamble here and trying to set up a situation where the feds will be so scared of being called "racists" and "caring only about the rich" that they'll just send a blank check down there and tell them all to fill in the amount and spend it as they please. That way the party can go on like it always has.

The media is going all out to help them, as only could be expected. It's up to us to make sure they don't get away with covering up the Dims' sins once again. It's up to us to let them know in no uncertain terms that the party is over.

"It looks like we're going to bear some of the brunt of this storm," Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco said. "Hurricane Katrina's aiming our way."

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said he would likely call for the state's largest city to be evacuated early on Sunday and might use the Louisiana Superdome as a giant shelter.

"Katrina's ground zero is hovering too close for comfort," Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard said.

Hurricane watches and warnings were posted for a stretch of the U.S. Gulf Coast from Louisiana to the Florida-Alabama border, alerting millions of residents to expect hurricane-force winds within 36 hours.

Google Mary Landrieu's father, Moon Landrieu, and you'll see how entrenched and how many years her family is in LA and in the dem party.

Chertoff is slamming him back! Or trying to.

Excellent responses from Chertoff -- steady, calm, focused, refuses to respond to Russet's unrelenting, continued baiting. Wants to shift emphasis to rescue/recovery. Says there will be time to review the response. But if looks could kill... very steely looks to camera. MSM snakes expose their fangs once again. And they should be treated like poisonous snakes and summarily dispatched.

Edith Clement is from New Orleans and a woman, Tim Russert points out (or recommends) on Meet the Press. If the media or dems even slightly seems to favor a candidate, that candidate is sure to be doomed. Bush has clever people to vet for him to choose a candidate of his ideals.

Exactly right. I wish folks would remember that. We don't have to like the bastards, we just have to beat them. Beating them is something Bush does very well.

I think I have the title for my next rant.
