Per CNN...
Dan Rather must be going insane not to be the anchor right now.
That is EXACTLY what General Sherman asked the people of the South before the War in 1861.
God help our country.
Condolences to family and friends.

"God rest you, good and faithful servant."
A great man.
I'm sorry Mr. Justice Rehnquist isn't going to be able to help with getting the Fifth Circuit back on its feet. Check out www.ca5.uscourts.gov and today's Houston Chronicle if you'd like to see what the court is facing. Judge Clement would be a good choice for the Supreme Court because she knows the challenges that the Fifth Circuit -- and the City of New Orleans -- must deal with and could perhaps help from a position on the Supreme Court.
Dear Siobhan,
Failure to replace Justice Rehnquist with a real conservative could lock in the culture of death enforced by the tyrannical judiciary for another 30 - 40 years.
Prayer and fasting.

The battle lines will be quickly formed.
Holy CRAP!
Condolences to the family.
Prayers for our President to make another great selection.
Ann? Ann Coulter? PLEEEASE??????
The hearings alone would be well worth it, I would love to see her and Teddy the Hut going at it.
She knew it was coming, everyone did, her ticket is written, I believe she will become the dean of her alma mater's law school.
She was right, there was no way he would ever retire!
Feel free. Well said!
Indeed, RIP.
(First night back and I got one! Ok to put me back on the list).
someone on CNN said most likely Bush will appoint Scalia as Chief Justice. (sitting justices still must going through confirmation hearings for the Chief Justice position.)
Pete Williams on MSNBC says O'Connor still participating in the Supreme Court, says, her resignation isn't final until her replacement is named.
Pete Williams echoes Greta in saying it won't be surprising if Bush replaces Renquist with a conservative, because that won't change the complexion of the court. It's expected. Both Williams and Greta seem to be saying the democrats won't fight too hard over whoever Bush names to replace him.
Williams doesn't predict whether or not Roberts' hearings will be postponed, but ends by saying he will be surprised if democrats delay the Roberts hearings.
He was great I don't care what his detractors say, he was the best IMHO, RIP Judge :(
You can always rely on the DUmmies for a good chuckle.
