It's all about politics and Federal money.
Or haven't you been listening to Landrieu demand "as much if not more than New York got for 9/11".
She said that on TUESDAY!

Living below sea level is something you can get away with for awhile - maybe even a couple hundred years, until the weather turns around and bites you. But you always know it's not going to last, and to refuse to consider this possibility amounts, IMHO, to criminal negligence. People died because the state and city officials wouldn't face reality.

aaron brown just took twisted the presidents words for a political point...

he said "How does the president view all this destruction and chaos in these peoples lives?

video of refugees crying, then cue the Pres. saying " a temporary disruption...etc."

but what aaron didn't tell you was that Bush was refering to the storms impact on gas supplies..." a temp. disruption on gas prices....typical Liberal lies..

Amazing -- I couldn't drink that much if I tried without getting ill. Mow my own grass in the all kinds of heat here in OK but no way could I drink a gallon of water.

this is like 300 F3 tornadoes on the ground at one place at once.

Accuweather had an excellent graphic as Katrina approached noting that the eyewall windspeeds were in the F3 tornado range and stating that this should be considered 25 mile wide F3. That should have been enough to dislodge even the most stalwart "I won't evacuate" sorts.

No, I disagree...because we have seen much worse human disasters such as in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, or Kobe Japan, Hiroshima, Japan etc. where far more people died and far more destruction and chaos was visited, and the people did not turn on each other in this cruel way or freak out due to lack of a value system and social structure in place before their disaster.

Kobe, Japan experienced 3,000 dead in one earthquake alone and had tens of thousands in refugee camps for five years if not more, and there were only a few extremely isolated cases of looting dealt with harshly by the Japanese police; people had an attitude of right vs. wrong, and social 'shame' were they to do wrong. No such value system is in place in large segments of the New Orleans permanent underclass...and we (should have) known that even before the disaster, just driving through parts of the town and observing general life.

I've taken a few hours off, so excuse me if this has been mentioned already, but I just got e-mail with a link to Fox News reporting that Fats Domino is missing - he reportedly said he'd ride out the storm, but his house is now underwater.

Needless to say, I hope he's okay... :-<

The "murkiness" of expecting NO to be at least as secure as as Falluja after 5 days? Gimme a break. The NO police, the ones who haven't deserted or turned, are barricading themselves in their stations. The NG is on the scene, but not in with enough force even to secure the French Qtr. This is FUBAR and there is no denying it.

No, the position was relieved, then the relief disappeared a little after that. The next round of busses was getting ready to pull up.

That Fox News guy said he expected a riot in Metrarie at the bus loading zone..... (the helos land and drop people off in Metrarie)

and the busses are taking really people to "the camps", not to the Astrodome....a few refugees will be sent, but thats just for tv. most of the poor and minorities are being "eliminated" out in the desert somewhere... and this comes from Ph.D students who will be teaching your kids American History in a few years.....

Anti-Liberal Sarcasm Torpedo ARMED. FIRE!!

Ask them to explain why the authorities can bus the oppressed minorities to vote two, three, ten times in a single election, but they cannot bus them to safety before, during, or after a national disaster.

Then follow it up by asking why it is an onerous burden and infringement on privacy to produce a valid ID in order to vote...

but it is not an onerous infringement to require ID to purchase alcohol.

Prayers for all. Especially libs.

Some PhD commenting on upgrading the levees with federal dollars was asked today (on one of the shows) if the money would really have helped to keep NO from being flooded.

He said, "No", because the areas that they thought were in need of repair were not the levees that were breeched.

The saga of snoball who is the puppy of a teensy boy. Snowball not allowed on helicopter and little boy vomited he was so upset.

I said mean things about snowball suggesting a double be found for him after he was abandoned.

But I took it back. Snowball is among the missing.

Do you drink a gallon of water a day?

When I'm outdoors in 95-degree heat with 100 percent humidity, easily.

I've tried drinking water like recommended by the medical community: eight 16 oz. glasses. Unless you're really dehydrated, by the second day you're ready to puke at the thought of anymore water. I just can't do that.

"To: jeffers

Do you drink a gallon of water a day?"

At home in the A/C, it's usually more like 2 quarts. On the trail or at altitude or just working outside, it'll go to 5 or 6 quarts. I've done 8 before. Add to both of those figures what I need for cooking, washing hands, etc, and a gallon is the figure you want to use.

"They know how to shoot and on my orders will shoot to stop these hoodlums."

Is she ever going to give the order to shoot? Some of these guys are genuine criminals and won't stop unless they know they will get shot.
