Shep showed a dead body along the freeway. How low can you go to grandstand? Things are bad in N.O., but he didn't have to show it.

We've just learned (and so has Osama B.L.) that we aren't so super-power when it comes to a true dissater on a massive scale. Let's keep some perspective; it has been all of three days. The city is near-inaccessible. Emergency personnel are doing a remarkable job under extremely difficult circumstances. And of course the media focuses on the negatives. While they are reporting problems and sheer rumors, real work is being done to fix things.

I really don't understand why people think it's very easy to get supplies in, but no one will do it. If they aren't doing it, I suspect it's because it's not doable at the moment. I don't think the *powers that be* are all just sitting back letting people starve/dehydrate/die because they're really not interested in helping.

Ref.: He ran over a woman in the parking lot of a Florida courthouse in the aftermath of the 2000 election. To be fair to Shep, he didn't just plow over someone driving through a parking lot. A women from another network was standing in the only empty parking space in the lot saving it for a coworker. Shep asked her to move, she refused, he nudged her out of the spot with his bumper.

I agree. Shep has been stellar yesterday and today. During normal times I like the sarcastic, sometimes lighthearted, take he gives to the news. Regarding the mug shot on this thread - who wouldn't punch a CNN reporter?

I was kind of disgusted by Sheps treatment of that police officer. He was asking baderging questions of that officer like what was he going to do to get ALL of those people food and water like he thought that officer was the director of FEMA. I was waiting for the officer to stop and say " Sir I am only one man, I am doing what I can" But I think the officer was not taking Sheps bait.

I must tell you that you are completely out of touch with what is going on here. Shep is no more vying for a Pulitzer and is simply trying to let people like you and the rest of the world know that hell has broken loose here on the gulf coast. Sorry for the melodrama.

Remember: FOX is still MSM.
I'm sure all of them are looking very carefully to find a celebrity corpse (like that chef guy from N.O.) floating around...that would really make their ratings sing!

So the media is evil for not showing the 9/11 bodies, but the media is evil for showing a New Orleans body?

I saw that and I agree with you. Alan Colmes also mentioned something to him like, "Shep, what impressed me the most is that the first thing out of your mouth when coming upon these refugees is 'Are you OK?'". Give me a break.
Is Shep a lib?

Shep has been over the top lately. There are aid agencies in N.O. but per Shep no one is N.O.

So what, you want to show every dead body in the world on TV?????

I know exactly what is going on down there; New Orleans is basically hell on earth; but that isn't the point. Shepherd Smith's report was melodramatic and over the top.
He has done things like this before, and I'm sure he'll do it again.

Range and payloads,
To deliver enough for everyone you have to have flown in, most of the helos on site aren't made to deliver these supplies and those helos that can are on the way via ship with all sorts of supplies. Once they get with in range they can deliver payloads.
The longer a helo has to fly the lighter the load it can carry, simple math.

Shep makes me sick sometimes. Anyone else?
I wondered if I was the only one noticing what a jerk he has become.
