Thank you. About a year ago, I read a book about how people back after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake asked about what God was saying through that devastating event. I thought that was an excellent question and that we don't do that enough in this day and age. So, yes, I have been thinking about it. And how my spoken thoughts have been twisted. Thanks again. You're helping revive my fondness for freeping!

There is no home! We should be making permanent arrangements for these poor people.

Earth to ClancyJ... we already have all the above.

Bob Parks writes a great blog. His comments were posted here last night.

Here is an excerpt:

It's hard to know what to say when I watch the video of black people, who claim to be victims of racism, running down the flooded streets with merchandise that doesn't belong to them. It's funny that America is constantly called a racist nation. If that were the case, these black looters would be shot dead. Instead, they run away with their ill-gotten booty just to probably later return for more, that is if anything's left.

Poverty didn't cause people to steal en masse. As designed, those looters have been told they've been kept down. They were told they will never have any opportunities in life. They were told they'll never have the things that would make their lives complete. And guess who told them that? The very people who aren't there now condemning this public display of lawlessness.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Liberals and Democrats have created the aura in the black community that they understand the problems and feel the pain. However, they never seem to have any medicine. They consistently deny blacks the chance to abandon the lousy public schools black politicians would never send their own kids to. They push blacks into experimental programs that result in teen pregnancy rates that would never be tolerated in the suburbs.

Yet they seem to almost expect blacks to behave like rabid animals in the face of disaster and find ways to make us feel that it should be expected.

Bob Parks is a former Republican congressional candidate (California 24th District), ex-Navy, single dad, graphic designer and television producer, life-long New England Patriots fan, and member/writer for the National Advisory Council of Project 21

I said it yesterday and I'll say it again. Remove the Governor and the Mayor and bring Rudy in. They are incompetant and I hold them responsible for the increasing chaos and violence that far outmatches anything the other states are seeing.

The NO Mayor and the Gov of LA are such a contrast to the strong demeanor of the Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, aren't they?

"Those waiting to be evacuated are thought to include 10,000 patients, staff and refugees from nine city hospitals, and at least 7,600 prison inmates."

What, did these folks just get forgotten in the mandatory evacuation? And those cancer kids at the hospital, too?

You wrote an excellent post. Aside from donations, I'm part of a volunteer team that will be helping with the relief efforts. I'm just waiting for what ouor local chapter in FL will be asked to do. We can't do anything until the authorities give the OK for non-professional volunteeres to enter the area. Right now, it is still too dangerous. These disasters have complications that many people are not even aware of. For me, a Cat 4 or 5 means 'get out of Dodge NOW.' I'd watch a Cat 3 or 2 (is it coming across FL or coming from the Gulf) and stay for a Cat 1 or a TS. My wife wants to foster peoples pets that had to evacuate since most shelters will not allow them in and the animals would likely starve or be euthanized if left in the owners homes while I head out to do what is needed.

If they don't start shooting to kill, these gangs will kill more people. Maybe YOU are the one who should stop and think. These gangs are firing at rescuers, because they don't want the looting to stop. They're having a grand time, and don't want it to stop. They're also interfering with helping people in need. And you would want to let the suffering die, so a looter can live to loot some more? Not me.

It's worth noting that as usual the democrats aren't there for the Black community exept when they are pandering for votes a month before election day.

I'm just sick and tired of the obsession with race CRAP that tries to hide behind sanctimonious cries about political correctness.

The point that you seem to be missing is that you're the one who jumped on the fact that the perp's ethnicity was mentioned .. and you assumed racism was involved.

It seems to me that only a racist operates from the presumption that race is relevant in behavior.

Where in my post did you glean the fact that I believe race is relevant to behavior?

A young man walks through chest deep flood water after looting a grocery store in New Orleans on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, across the globe....

A Sudan People's Liberation Movement soldier patrols the violence-racked town of Juba in a bid to quell looting.

Dont get me wrong. MOst of the residents are good people. But, they should have nipped this in the bud early on.

Nope, do nothing. Its time to find out where the soul of the country. After 9/11 everybody wanted something done and when Bush put a plan in action and we started to hunt down terrorist world wide political active groups opposed it in every possible way and continue to do so. Any action will be supported today and then picked apart by political agendas in a month. Do nothing until the liberals participate in a plan and sign on in writing that they are not doing so for political reasons and will see the appropriate action through. Do nothing until the whole country is in agreement and on board. When this spreads to other liberal cities they will get on board.

There IS a home--it is New Orleans. Where they build might be different from where they used to live, but it's home. I don't know why some of you people can't comprehend the simple concept of home, where family and friends have been all their lives, where marriages were made and children raised, HOME. Just like yours. If it were your home, you'd be singing another tune.

It occurs to me that some of these people are only doing what they do every day. I'm referring to crime. Only now, with the increased news coverage, it's visible.
