President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Tropical Storm 12
Get ready. 40 miles outside of New Orleans, refugees are being dumped in store parking lots, given no food nor water, NOTHING. Lootings. Carjackings. No food on shelves. Homes being destroyed by looters -- homes that sustained no damage from the hurricane. Friend told today to go home and protect your family by his employer. He went home to join with neighbors to form a militia of sorts -- getting their guns and trying to figure out how to protect their neighborhoods from the irresponsible way the evacuation is being handled. No food left in stores because of all the looting -- this is 40 miles OUTSIDE New Orleans. These people are poor, desperate and too often gang members. Best of luck.
Kinda seems like their "plan" was to let someone else take care of it.
Another great pic - we are lucky to have young men and women who know that the price of freedom is duty, honor, sacrifice.
Bless all those who wear a uniform and protect us from enemies from without and within.

The Australian - 20 countries offer Katrina aid (actually, 22 - Australia, Belgium, Canada, Russia, Japan, France, Germany, Britain, China, Jamaica, Honduras, Greece, Venezuela, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, South Korea, Israel and the United Arab Emirates, plus the Organization of American States and NATO)
Agree, no integrety issue to be seen. Time will tell. These farms are not as impermeable as we might think and I can only guess that there will be ground water issues later, should ground water be a concern in a city below sea level.
Jordan? Saudi Arabia?
WWLTV: Reporter says they were stopped by state police and state police is not letting any more media in.
Good news. I thin we can expect that Law and Order will restored in short order.
Yep.... they're preparing one of the huge wharehouse's at Kelly USA (old Kelly Air Force Base)
My husband works down there.. should be interesting. Of course they have to outfit the wharehouse with AC/bathrooms/showers....

Isn't Mary Landrieu married to the Lt. Gov of LA?
Let's not hold our breath...LOL
I think the locals are beginning to
catch on about their leaders,
Blanco & Nagin. Not doing anything.
Rumblings on this, are beginning
to be heard from the street and
on all the MSM.
Did ya just catch that interview on FNC about the levies?
Anyone seen the video of what looks like Marine One (the President's helicopter) down in the area?
Its an H-60 with "United States of America" on the side. Looks just like what you'd see on the White House lawn.
I wonder if it's down there already in anticipation of Bush's visit, and is helping out today.
I think they are brother sister...
Jeez, that editorial cartoon says it all.
Welcome to FR. What's your point/agenda?
I wouldn't expect Jordan (they're kind of cash poor). Saudi is another matter (as is Kuwait).
