President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Then why did you say "uhh, rage" and not "uhh, cajunperson"? Whatever.
FGS! It never ceases to amaze. Blame Bush for everything! Blame Bush if you lose your keys!
I'm sick of these idiots.
Press conference Blanco and state police admonishing press to quit reporting rumors. say everything is under control, just a few shots, no riots, said the media is causing the people of new orleans to get upset when they hear things about shootings etc, that are not true....and this is what is contributing to the unrest there. Guess they have TV and radio and paper deliveries down there, but not getting food or H2O.
Time To Send In The ParaTroopers?
How do you know that they haven't contributed to the effort? Have you talked with them?
Why?
If for no other reason, to raise the collective IQ of Fox News. That twit is far more useful unconscious.
UH - Is this why we're not seeing wave after wave of military transport helicopters lifting these people out of there?
all I heard was that this was done for 2006, so would it have mattered anyway?
BTTT
I just sent this to all of the anchors at CNN:
I have been very impressed with your coverage - until today. I am increasingly furious at your reporters and anchors placing blame on the federal government. What you are seeing now in New Orleans as well as for the past two days, is a total LACK OF PLANNING BY THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!! If the Mayor and Governer had a plan, and implemented it, citizen's lives could be sustained and unrest quelled during the first hours and days following the disaster. But, it is painfully obvious that after Katrina, as well as prior, there was no plan; especially as it pertained to the poor and shut-ins of New Orleans. Please keep your anti-Bush bias off the air... look at the Mayor and his ineptness for the reason as to why this is happening! That is the REAL story as to why we are seeing death and disruption in the streets of New Orleans.
"Basically saying the entire country thinks Bush has blown this entire thing.
Cafferty is a complete ass.
They are really moving this story to suit their agenda."
I saw that Jack Cafferty on CNN and his rant. He's horrible, and has been throughout. I threw a pillow at my TV I was so friggin' upset!!
A woman just called into Rush and said her sister was visiting in NO...and has been stuck at a hotel in the French Quarter...yesterday, the hotel charged all of the guests $75 for a seat on a bus that was coming to take them to Houston Airport...
The bus was confiscated and never made it...and they all had to re-check into hotel...no elec. no toilets...so this morning the hotel took all of the visitor WALKING to the Convention center...and now she can't get a hold of her sister...
The hotel CHARGING for a seat on a bus...!!!
BTW, I know you were offering your house, but I have to say, after seeing and hearing about a lot of what is happening, I don't know that I would feel safe just getting a "random" person or family to stay with me....
Entergy customers are coming back online..Miss Power is going to take awhile..their generators are toast on the coast.
"To: NautiNurse
Thanks for the thread, I want to know where are the food companies, the clothing companies, Heinz, Libby's, Hunts, Del Monte: The GAP, Old Navy, Dillard's?
I'm to angry right now to even type. Why are the above not donating supplies, where are the hotels, chain restaurants, shoe stores, etc? Taking matching fund?"
Thery are, there was a whole list this AM.
Lilly is donating truckloads of drugs and $1 million to the Red Cross, for just one example.
If cops go down there and start killing people for taking things out of stores, the whole country will have to deal with it! Can you imagine hundreds of dead, black, cajun people floating in the streets with arms full of shoes or whatever? This isn't China!
