President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Tropical Storm 12
Shep, FNC ...
First rain drops starting to fall ... storm rolling into NO.
Buildings on fire off I-10.
This fire will end up taking over for the flattening of the town by bulldozer. This is becoming more tragic by the minute. Now you can only hope that people can stay ahead of the flames.
I'll say a prayer for your relatives, easonc52.
God Bless...I'll pray even harder....
Thanks for the news
There may be people in those buildings.
"it is clear to all on the ground here and I am quite sure to many others... that this situation is not under control here in NOLA.
"finer neighborhoods in NOLA were looted
"small group of criminals that were preparing [prior] to loot
Probably not at this point, it's apparently blowing the other way. If anything, it's a marker.
see FReepmail
from Shep on Fox
Where are you so we can give you updates? Freepmail me if you wish.
That is my worry. The water is pretty polluted, so will the fire be able to continue spreading. And we have seen the pics of people still in apartment buildings with the "Help Us" signs.
Stay safe. God bless you and keep you.
"To: LikeLight
Fire getting huge . . ."
Had to come, the "Save us" signs weren't getting them saved.

I suppose there aren't any of those handi-wipes or baby-wipes around. They would help alittle with bacteria & sanitation. (man, I've gotta get an emergency kit together...like yesterday)
Screenshots, anyone?
Be Safe and take no chances. Prayers from CA for you and all trapped in this disaster.
I hate to say it, but it's too bad. There's nothing anyone can do about it.
This is triage. Save what you can, try to make those you can't save right away as comfortable as possible, and don't waste resources on what you have no chance in hell of saving.
It's cold, but it's the only way to deal with these problems.
