President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

"Whoah! Is the entire lawless street of New Orleans hijacking school buses and heading to Houston? This is surreal."

Unbelievable, that guy going on national tv and lying about his experience IN the Super Dome. I thank God that for every one of these liars, looters, or "renegades", there are 100 heroes.

And they should all be searched before being allowed in to make sure no one has a gun. They are idiots to boot, because showing up with all that media there - there was still no way they wouldn't have been let it.

It sounds to me like this group is not your normal group of refugees. If you want to give them a home then you should check with your state prisons and see if they have some extra beds.

What, exactly, was racist about that comment? I miss your point.

I'm not hearing racism. I personally am appalled at bad behavior, regardless of race, and especially in a time of crisis.

***the racism is thick here tonight...***

It's not racism, it's irony....

And an ABSOLUTE case study in what 30 years of Liberalism has done to an inner-city minority poulation....

The rapid breakdown of law, order, damily and community brought on by the nanny-state...

Was he lying and there was really a Salvation Army station in walking distance?

That would help explain why an able bodied fellow like Shep wasn't lifting a finger to help anybody. Otherwise, this reeks of Geraldo tactics. btw - where is Geraldo?

CNN, citing a judge at the Astrodome, described the vehicle as a "renegade bus", having arrived several hours earlier than what was expected of those buses coming from the Superdome.

CNN, citing the same judge, said that the bus was "stolen".

CNN didn't elaborate beyond that, only to say that those on the "renegade bus" would be allowed into the Astrodome.

I'm not even sure if those on that bus said they were from the Superdome or CNN simply made that assumption.

"Trying to commandeer buses for the Crescent City Connection" - per scanner - says to stop sending buses - trying get 1000 buses "to eliminate what's at the Dome" - [I get the feeling this is another govt agency that wants these buses, and the guards or troopers need them for some other purpose]

maybe a case of American "coyotes" doing the people smuggling work Mexicans won't do...

sorry, just an idea. But people would pay a lot to get out of that hell hole in New Orleans...

Well, I do give them credit for being creative. But the hard fact is that lawlessness is a serious problem in New Orleans. The message cannot be that looters are rewarded. They should be prosecuted for their crime. When they end up in a Texas jail, they won't be hungry or drowning.

On John Ziegler's show, the Coast-to-Coast guy did his promo, saying that he was having someone on who would report that the levees should have been fixed before, but couldn't be because the money allocated went to Homeland Security and the War in Iraq instead. After the promo, Ziegler said that Cindy Sheehan would be thrilled at that topic. So I switched stations.

Go buy a gun tomorrow

"My son is a clinically depressed adult....Don't need to have a gun around during his low times....It's the responsible thing to do."

Neither is looting a gun as you posted before.

Excuse me? He could have jumped off stolen the bus way before the 'dome if he was that 'hot'.

You're another hard-hearted one.

Were they LA plates on the bus or no? Were they evacuating as demanded or no?
