Did you see the little girl standing on a cement barrier crying for someone to come and push their old, beat up car? Some older man was standing behind asking for a push, the car had water half way up the door and they thought they could drive it out of there... no windows I could see in it, very sad and a really cute girl about 9 or 10.
I think you may be right.......but I went to the page and I don't really cache pages.........
It's not over yet ... ooof ... punched in the tummy ...
If you would have caught it just a few moments before, they went right past a dog hanging on for life in a tree. After that, and the man, I had to stop watching.
They're about to be out of their boutique blend gas, and the oil supply pipeline for the east coast is completely offline - guess where their oil came from.
I saw that. I also saw whoever was filming it leave the little girl behind crying.
I think I have made a mistake........I'm going to have that pulled!
Do you know what it's like to try and walk around in silt? As this water sits there just getting around will get harder and harder each day.
That definitely would make some great video on how to handle looters!
is this from yesterday?
Again, I know humans are the priority, but how these rescuers can leave dogs behind is beyond me. I could never do it. Guess I'd make a poor rescuer.
A large disaster not yet reported b/c it hasn't fully taken effect is the dividing of this nation against its leadership that is beginning to snowball.
I fear leadership is trapped b/c they are making decisions now based on hard/blunt estimates that they do not want to share and create undue panic.
But, at the same time the media is playing 24 hours of suffering people the media can reach, while giving us the sense of anger and frustration as to why the rescuers cannot do the same.
This will only give black eyes and perhaps even a knock out punch to all leadership involved and unfortunately will become politicized with time.
And, then there's Iraq... you know they suffered the worst days thus far today with that stampede that killed scores.
We are going to make it through this (positive), but the face of our nation, our leadership, portions of our economy are going to be changed.
I thought the Katrina runoff was filling up Lake Ponchatrain again, which will cause more flooding down hill
It ripped my heart out. And the man was much older. I am sure that that dog was a very important part of his life. And worse, as they left the dog was looking very lost.
As the waters go down, the LAST thing the survivors are going to want to deal with are packs of starving dogs...
Not quite as dangerous as gang members... But...
The whole delta is silt. This hurricane very well may have done enough for the GOM to reclaim New Orleans. If not, it has certainly created channels for the next to finish it off.
Dustin Hoffman always had "figures in his possession" in that movie where he was a savant. ;)
The thought of that breaks my heart. Two things that upset me over the people who stayed behind to ride it out: innocent children and pets.... and yes, to the elderly their pets are sometimes all they have to make life worth living.
Well as the church lady used to say....NEVERMIND!
