I wonder if they're 'working on a plan' yet to deal with the bodies? Other than just shoving them aside, that is.
Why, oh why on earth would you just leave the bodies floating around? First of all, it has to be very unsanitary. Second, can we maybe treat them with a little more dignity than that? I mean, they were human beings, not pieces of flotsam to just be judged out of the way.

Thank you so much for the ping Howlin!

Now that he's had his fun, I hope he'll explain how he plans on using the new hurricane creation and steering technology for good instead of evil in the future.
(I read about it on DU.)

Bush to ask American citizens for aid and help...also the global community as the situation spins out of control in certain portions of the gulf coast.

Now Mister President, If you'll look out of the starboard window, you'll see the Worlds largest punchbowl, where New Orleans used to be....
May I recommend calling it a huge Absloute Martini, and inviting Senator Kennedy down to survey the site?

Im not whining, just stating the facts. Gas in Columbia, SC (the cheapest in the nation) went from an avreage of 2.60 this morning to 2.99 at lunch. Many stations are running out, and lines are growing extremely long. Some of the surrounding towns are complete out. We need to build refineries ASAP.

THIS President had it all thrown at him, and it is my opinion (history will bear this out as well, I am sure) that he did as well and better than many ... I mean that. He is a giant and has, in all of it, retained his professional commitment and personal humility. Neat trick. If you don't think so, just look who was in the WH previously and tell me THAT bore any resemblance to commitment or humility.

<sarcasm=1>The next targets are Havana, Cuba, and Caracas, Venezuela. Of course, that won't be exactly what the DUmmies wanted to hear, but they're in a delusional state anyway. <sarcasm=0>

Rumors are that he's going to ask the nation to conserve energy, gas will be $4.00 a gallon by the weekend.

"Why, oh why on earth would you just leave the bodies floating around?"
Because they're trying to rescue the living first.
Resources and manpower are overwhelmed. Even with lots of manpower, it's almost impossible to get around the city. What transportation is available is being used to save lives.
Sure, floating bodies pose sanitation problems. So do overflowing sewers.
It's just a matter of priorities, kind of like triage in nursing. You put the effort and resources where they do the most good.
In this case, saving lives trumps respect for dead bodies.

At least, the President didn't do like our local politcos did last year after we were flooded out by Ivan. They all gathered around, bothering the rescue workers and the cleanup people and generally getting in the way. I was waiting for someone to hand the governor, the senators, the state legislators and every other VIP who showed up a shovel and some bib overalls and tell 'em to start shoveling.

I posted this on another thread and believe it to my core:
There is no moral difference between the bastards jacking up gas prices on inventory already purchased and the bastards looting in the streets of New Orleans.
