It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....
Oh, please. Hurricanes, unfortunately, happen. There is no need to blame every natural disaster on divine vengeance.
Uh, you posted on 8/27 this "ill go against my usual bias which is right (lol) and say yes, they will have to shift further west....right now you have 2 main models in ms, 1 a little west of NO and 1 right over NO.....i think new orleans is in real trouble with this one.". So, two of the four models were saying MS and you thought that the models would have to shift west even more.
Water flows over a levee on the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tuesday morning, August 30, 2005.
My cousin has told me the same thing about Slidell. She says it's a small town and everyone knows everyone.
I wonder how people can look at this type of damage and question what might have happened.
It's past time that ALL law abiding citizens should be armed.
Messing with nature is never a good idea, even if the intentions may be good.
Lord Have Mercy...on their souls.
I am feeling very distressed at this whole tragedy.
Indonesia now this.
As I look out onto to the night lite shining on the Ocean Bar.
Yes. Constant for more than 2 days before the strike, longer than even for New Orleans.
I think they are afraid to let the numbers out just yet. It is too horrific.
Freepmail me bonfire.
Things are tight with us, especially with my husband's 70 mile commute daily.
I'd send a ten spot along the way, most we can do right now but we'd love to help out!
Feh. Any talk about controlling hurricanes is bunk.
All you have to do to read this thread...then you'll see that hurricanes (among other kinds of weather) are beyond humanity's ability to control...
I imagine they got the official word, but most of the media focus was on NO. They were probably able to get a lot of the people from the bigger cities out, but a lot of those small towns either didn't get it, or didn't believe it.
FR is where I get my news ... it's almost always posted here first. Newspapers and other MSM are dying.
That was what I was thinking. How could this be happening and no one reporting. We saw bodies stacked with the tidal wave. I knew there was a lot of damage but with what is happening in NO, ...I had no idea.
Tomorrow I am going to go see Lake Erie. Calms my nerves.
God bless you!
I know wardaddy is back online.
But, WKB and onyx may be offline for a while.
I heard today that it will take weeks for their power company to restore power.
However, their power company includes LA.
I have been afraid of this.
I haven't heard any news from this area.
During Camille, IIRC, Waveland was totally destroyed and, maybe, Pass Christian, as well.
When I heard that D'Iberville was under 6 feet of water, I figured this area was in trouble.
During Camille, D'Iberville had no flooding, at all.
I can't put into words what I am feeling.
I hope this post makes sense.
Thank you, cyborg.
You are a real sweetie.
