The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Tropical Storm 12
"Poor government"? Oh my God! You know better than that: Louisiana is the BANANA REPUBLIC of the United States. It's so bad that, when the Wall Street Journal ran an editorial on New Jersey political corruption several months ago, they titled it "Louisiana North".
Kathleen Blanco, meanwhile, is literally the stupidest living thing ever to stumble its way into Baton Rouge. Having her as the public face of this state, especially now, is beyond embarrassing.

Sad, but most likely true.
Happy FReepin, tc.
Did you happen to see where the roof was blown off and the rain came in? And they'll have to stay there for days.
I never really appreciated Hailey Barbour intil he was at the microphones yesterday talking so reassuringly but seriously about the storm. He was just like having a sturdy father in charge giving you the bad news but full of resolve.
Blanco gets a KKK+.

People will probably be moved to refugee camps. Tent cities. Who knows how long it will take to set them up though. Obviously this is only for the short term. Long term?
Please stay put for another day or two.
Stay safe.
Last I heard was the TX/LA border is closed LA-bound.
Any chance you could ask that question on a different thread? Up top are links to go to.
Posts like this have totally fokked the Live Thread.
"Bush needs to take control now
have military get in there find land and make new temp city get these people out maybe temp city but get in there and get all survivers out and take care of them if he wants legacey this is it . this will only get worse survivers need rescue and a place to go this is the only way"
Sure worked for Gov. Bill Janklow here in SD. A tornado completely wiped out a town of a couple of hundred---flattened. He was right there on the ground right away and stayed to comfort citizens for a couple of days and direct relief. He has always been a very polarizing figure, but I think that act alone got him the support he needed to defeat his political opponent later. Unfortunately that opponent went on to become our pro-abortion Rep. Stephanie Herseth after Bill's reckless driving killed a man.
Hello, folks...been at work today, and I am just trying to catch up with the news...oy veh!
The Corp of Engineers prolly mentioned that last month but Ms. Leader is still thinking(??!!) about it. My co-workers in south Texas asked the same question this morning when we saw the hole....
He was a GREAT Chairman of the RNC as well. It's when he first caught my eye, and he hasn't disappointed since. He could be a rising star in the Republican Party, and I pray that that is the case..
Has anyone heard from cajungirl?
LOL! Boy, do you have some reading to do!
Not very deep.
Lake Pontchartrain
lake, southeastern Louisiana, U.S. The lake is 40 miles (64 km) long and 25 miles (40 km) wide at its widest point, with an area of 630 square miles (1,631 square km) and a mean depth of 10 to 16 feet (3 to 5 metres). It is more a tidal lagoon than a lake, since it connects eastward through Lake Borgne with the Gulf of Mexico by a narrow passage called The Rigolets.
