Bush is going to get engaged like any real leader they get a picture of the whole situation. I have no doubt Bush will be an asset for us. But to be honest these comments about Louisiana and New Orleans being lackadasical is nonsence thats the same old tiresome rant. Being on the ground here seeing how 25 % of the State was moved to safety in 36 hours is incredible and to see how Statewide that was put in effect is incredible. Then the follow up of all State agenices and local agencies for rescue in the affected areas is amazing. All this talk about we knew it would eventually happen is stupid. Well we all know the "killer" or "big one" earthquake will happen in California prob in ourr life time . I wonder if we will here the same criticism of when others have to deal with great natural trajedy.

But would you evacuate if you knew the "big one" earthquake was headed your way? That is the difference in this case.

I suspect that info is given by the officals there but as Nagin said it was a refuge of last support he warned about these hardaches.

I would say the governor of LA should step in but I don't thing it would improve matters.

She already stepped in!

Didn't you hear that she declared today a Day of Prayer?

Take me for who I am. I call them as I see them. And I don't self censor myself. When I am bounced, I am bounced. Until then, I will continue to do so. In the end, I offend just about everyone. But some nevertheless still tolerate me. It is well, gratifying. I appreciate it. Folks here give me a very long leash, including those with the button.

Most people who did know did evacuate. Again the fact that so many people got out in such a short time was incredible. Most people that stayed couldnt get out either because of economics or family relations

This article does nothing to prove that our President called them. All he says is "I spoke to..."

Let's keep digging.

The governor AND the mayor said he called them and told them to order the evacuation.

you are joking right?

She is making sacrifices at the temple when there is a tiger at the gate.

Another thread is reporting MASSIVE amounts of dead bodies found in trees in coastal Miss, the gov. has looters stealing what is being offered for free elsewhere, and yet this is the answer given?

The boisterous Greeks have organized Katrina aid better than that!

I hadn't heard about this:

Children's Hospital under seige
Tuesday, 11:45 p.m.

Late Tuesday, Gov. Blanco spokeswoman Denise Bottcher described a disturbing scene unfolding in uptown New Orleans, where looters were trying to break into Children's Hospital.

Bottcher said the director of the hospital fears for the safety of the staff and the 100 kids inside the hospital. The director said the hospital is locked, but that the looters were trying to break in and had gathered outside the facility.

The director has sought help from the police, but, due to rising flood waters, police have not been able to respond.

Bottcher said Blanco has been told of the situation and has informed the National Guard. However, Bottcher said, the National Guard has also been unable to respond.

And you were never on my ping list.

Then you must have been posting to groups or something, cause I sure got a lot of stuff from you, mostly around that Schaivo case. As I remember, you were an expert on that, too. ;)

(psst.. by the way.. they don't have power in the Superdome, not since the storm. It would be hard to run the PA without it!) night night!

no problem. on a lighter note even Pan hellenic is not "safe" there are a few "pan hellenic" organizations which are counsels of various hellenic groups relating t Greek immigrants.

But that is for another day.

I just wanted to get the word out about this group making their own effort to help.
