The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Tropical Storm 12
No offense, but I don't have time to read your posts over the last four days, but I will say this: what refugee camps could possibly be set up that wouldn't have been completely destroyed by the hurricane? In essence, the Superdome and the other 10 emergency shelters *were* the refugee camps, and with the whole city under water, that's about as far as it could go anyway. If you mean outside of New Orleans, well, FEMA was "on the line" well before the storm hit. I remember the director clearly stating "we are ready to handle the situation, whatever it is." Now I didn't take that to mean "everything will be okay," of course, but it did tell me that they did have everything in place to respond, whatever that was. And they are still saying that. So what gives with blaming it all on the city?
Saints to go to San Antonio
Wednesday, 12:50 a.m.
The Saints will fly to San Antonio following their 8 p.m. Thursday game at the Oakland Raiders and will make it their home base for the immediate future, said director of media and public relations Greg Bensel.
Several teams and communities offered assistance, but Saints owner Tom Benson has long-standing ties to San Antonio, his second home. The team evacuated to San Antonio before Hurricane Ivan last year.
The Saints are planning to practice in San Antonio until their season-opener Sept. 11 at the Carolina Panthers.
Where they will play the home opener, against the New York Giants on Sept. 18, is uncertain. General Manager Mickey Loomis and the NFL are looking into potential sites, and that would include college stadiums.
PS. I do it here for free too.
In my book, to heck with the sugar cane, lets save the city! Anybody know what he might be talking about. I'm Googled out. If they flood the city in order to save some slug or farmers incomes, somebody ought to get hung!
That is how I see it and call it.
here's the post that said Hwy 90 INTO Houma (Terrebonne Par.) was open.

This post is pretty sad.
I'm praying to Saint Anthony.
Lake would only come down to sea level and stop. No crops left anyway.
Oh, I remember people talking about that back then! Because somebody said "NHC finally caught up."
Dan,She helps much with these threads.
That doesn't make sense to me, because "downstate" from Ponchartrain is New Orleans. I'm sure if there were any quick fix like that they'd have done it long ago. But in any disaster, the rumors will fly.

Because FEMA doesn't have anything at all to do with EVACUATIONS?
Hey, feeling's mutual, C-YA! :)
Baton Rouge would have been perfect as the refuge. Right next to the capitol, along with Alexandria, both of which were anticipated to be just outside the bubble, as of Sat Am. When a place is headed for destruction, one doesn't place folks in the bowl of the destruction. One gets them out, and does it with public assets, trains, planes, boats and buses, all of which were inoperative as of Sat AM. Then after the bullet was dodged, the deer in the headlights continued, from top to bottom. There was a lack of intensity. It was too slow. It is still too slow. The whole thing is criminal. Heads should roll.
Get me banned. I stand by every word.
