And rafts would have to be made of a material that would not be easily punctured by the debris.
The Saints have been about to move to a new city for a while now, with Benson always denying it.
I think Grand Isle is gone
Aaaaaahhhh. Not a word problem!! I gave those up in school. The answer is: A very long time.
I haven't come close to reading this whole thread, but I did want to slip in a comment here on Aaron Brown, whose show I watched of-and-on tonight in spite of myself. I noticed that in several interviews, he tried very hard to get the person he was interviewing to say something negative about the rescue/recovery efforts. I thought it was pretty blatant and uncalled for. It has started. If they can't succeed in blaming Bush for the storm itself, they're going to blame him for everything else.
I think their plan is to ensure President Bush fails, then they'll have something to carp about.
I figured they would play in Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
we are so behind on so many things......
The governor and others just had a press conference an hour ago on WWL. Only the Fish and Wildlife man had anything to say. The governor just wasted everyone's time..
I understand. But generator systems don't typically run on LP. They mainly run on diesel. They also are not generally built to run unattended for weeks on end. Backup generators will get you through the first few days, but thereafter plans will have to be made that take existing conditions into account.
Bush should issue executive orders overturning these per state fuel blends, otherwise there are going to be gasoline shortages very soon.
C'mon Mr President, use your EO powers and get this done!
Charlotte County in Florida is still a mess, almost a year after Charley came through. Many businesses have not been rebuilt, houses uninhabitable, and many still live in FEMA trailers.
And there was no standing water issue in Charlotte County, the run off happened quickly and the waters receded, unlike NO which will be underwater for weeks.
I heard one report that GI was split in two.......however three were rescued from there.
Oh, it is defintely the plan. And they're playing it straight from the Dem handbook. It's all they've got.
Yes, and fast. It's escalating. I can't imagine being in that huge cesspool at night. No power, polluted flood water, roving, well-armed gangs. Martial law isn't helping, they need to bring in the military or something equally drastic. And what is there left to take? They're ignoring the curfews and evac orders to rob, at their own peril. Too stupid.
250,000 small craft mean nothing without communication, FUEL!!, and support.
"What we have here is a failure to communicate. I didn't want it this way. He wanted it this way. And, he got what he wanted".
It can sometimes take weeks to mobilize one platoon, with adequate support (nobody shooting at you, perfect weather).
Lack of plans is totally shocking. When I was at FedEx, we had to write coningency plans for direct hit tornadoes, fire, massive floods, etc, etc. for every location.
When I think of looters, I think of snakes, alligators and fire ants flowing thru the water. When I think of armed looters...I hope the water is is briney enough to support sharks.
