The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

It was as if they were talking about a third world country - not the US! I thought we were one country.
Your sister the llama is pouting? ;OD
There are more than just one of us and we're everywhere! ;-}
I'd like to think that, Rob, but judging from so many of the comments made today by the media and the Dim politicians, I can't help but think that a huge number of them are telling themselves that the people in LA, MS and AL got what they had coming for electing George Bush, and that they'll be very vocal in letting us know that they don't want to lift a finger.
I'm sure someone can do that but I admit, I don't know which site would be best.
I think she meant that lake water is better than seawater. Seawater would tend to sterilize the earth roundabout.
nope...
I hand-jammed it....
No idea. But since a few freepers have said it's impossible for ships to get in there.......I reckon I am out of solutions & will give up the ships.
Did they give a time table for how long before gas became available?
Does anyone have current info on the Martial Law declaration that was reported this morning?
Can regular army troops be rolled. like in Watts and Detroit in the 60's?
What is happening on the ground. A post reported that a large column was riding in around noon.
Amen. With the pumps down I would think even ordinary rainstorms would aggravate the situation significantly.
>> We should all pray that we don't have another hurricane in the northern gulf in the next month!
What happened to Laz?
So it was a "sleep with me, sleep with my llama" moment?
Cool it folks. We are here on this thread to try and help Katrina's victims in any way we can.
(/rant)
I didn't realize the gas problem would start that fast.
Quentin Tarantino could do a whole movie script on just one of your posts, but the llama would likely end up with the key to the gun box, and the goat would be in the chili.

In that photo the lake is to the north, the river is to the south. The section that is being flooded, Arabi, has been flooded for at least 33 hours, and had the water up to the rooftops for almost that long. Reports
for 30 hours have been that the there was an overtopping from the Mississippi River that was flooding this section of Arabi, including reports from the mayor's office and the Army Corp of Engineers.
"
If what you are saying is true, the Lake is "up" the river "down", then the flooded neighborhood has breached the seawall and water from the neighborhood is flowing into the canal. I have the image up full screen on the PC ext to this one and I am at least 80% sure that the water is flowing right to left in that image.
Nope, 100%, the whitewater is to the left of obstructions and the area to the right of the seawall is full to the top of the wall.
If all the above is true, your post and mine, all I can figure is that the river is draining into the parish, and the parish is flowing into the canal.
I have a sister
My sister has a llama
The llama wasn't allowed in the house for the storm by my brother in law
My sister was mad at my brother in law
The llama has a companion, a goat, who was the main problem for my brother in law
So the llama weathered the storm outside
The llama is pouting
My brother in law is triumphant because my sister failed to kill him because of his meaness to the llama and the goat and he won the argument over the llama/goat spending the night in the house.
That is all
Sorry...but a certain amount of order does need to be established. Two reasons...for the security of the rescuers, and equally importantly, because it is definitely going to take time and if lawlessness is not curbed, the types of things I mentioned in 1060 will begin to occur.
It is not my intent to get into a drawn out debate or arguement...or to be rude or demeaning. I made a statement. I stick by it four-square. You disagree with some (or all) parts of it. That's fine.
Right, you got it!!!
