Ah, it's the usual third-hand rumor story. Yawn.

electric crews moved only in larger groups with "police" escorts in Miami and Hialeah.

Fascinating info. But why the "escorts?" Roaming criminals? Or?

Well it was apparently the US 98 bridge next to the I-10 tunnel, and it was an Drilling Rig.

Have seen multiple mentions of the Alabama breaking loose, including on WSFA TV-12 here in Montgomery. They had a Mobile City Official on the phone and he said "She is just Gone, we figure she is floating in the bay somewhere".

thanks for the update ... it is so stressful to watch this, and to have someone close in your family in her condition, and the 'not knowing' can drive you bats. We have friends whose pregnant daughter and hub decided to sit it out in Bay St. Louis, and I'm a wreck worrying about her, too. The rest of the family, all from NO and environs, took off to God knows where (mostly Texas).

I have reservations at a condo in Gulf Shores starting Thursday the 1st. Just my luck after waiting all summer to take a vacation with the family. I guess I will try to call the condo company tomorrow to see if I can get any information. They say they will refund my deposit if the area has been evacuated because of a storm.

well...I'm very happy and relieved to say.....I was there at Camille and

I still have bragging rights.

and a damn good thing this one did not slam NO head on with Camille's strength

the superdome's roof cannot survive 240 knot gusts....they got lucky...that could have been a death trap..and a 25-30 foot sustained surge would indeed be cataclysmic for NO

this is bad enough we're seeing

I would have slept better if I had stayed up another 90 minutes.

Speaking of US90, someone else posted that its bridge/causeway from NO to the MS/LA border is now gone.

After the San Francisco earthquake in 1906, so I have read, National Guard troops (or Militia as they may have been called then) didn't hesitate about shooting looters. Different strokes for different centuries, I guess.

Why did CNN fire him???

They wanted him to take a new slot as White House reporter; he didn't want to move, so CNN fired him.
