A national emergency

On Aug. 12, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson declared a state of emergency "due to a " on his southern border. Three days later, Gov. Janet Napolitano followed suit in Arizona.
Reason: the crisis on the border. The ally-ally-in-free immigration policy of George Bush and Vicente Fox, beloved of corporate America, has created a hell on our southern border.
Those Southwestern states are being inundated by illegal aliens trashing ranches, killing cattle, committing crimes and eating up tax dollars. The traffic in narcotics and human beings from Mexico is a national scandal and a human-rights disgrace.
What is true of New Mexico and Arizona is true of our nation, which is now home to an estimated 10 million to 15 million aliens who have broken our laws and broken into our country. It is a mark of the cowardice of our leaders that they are so terrified of being called "bigots" they tolerate this criminality. The moral rot of political correctness runs deep today in both national parties.
A president like Teddy Roosevelt would have led the Army to the border years ago. And if Fox did not cooperate, T.R. would have gone on to Mexico City. Nor would Ike, who deported all illegal aliens in 1953, have stood still for this being done to the country he had defended in war.
What are these Bush Republicans afraid of? Dirty looks from the help at the country club?
The question of whether America is going to remain one nation, or whether our Southwest will wind up as a giant Kosovo separated by language and loyalty from the rest of America is on the table.
Where is Bush? All wrapped up in the issue of whether women in Najaf will have the same rights in divorce and custody cases as women in Nebraska. His legislative agenda for the fall includes a blanket amnesty for illegals, so they can be exploited by businesses who want to hold wages down as they dump the social costs for their employees health care, schools, courts, cops, prisons onto taxpayers.
Not only have Richardson and Napolitano awakened they are on the front lines so, too, has Hillary Clinton, who has spoken out against illegal immigration with a forthrightness that makes Bush sound like a talking head for La Raza.
Why is a Republican Congress permitting this president to persist in the dereliction of his sworn duty?
George Bush is chief executive of the United States. It is his duty to enforce the laws. Can anyone fairly say he is enforcing the immigration laws? Those laws are clear. People who break in are to be sent back. Yet, more than 10 million have broken in with impunity. Another million attempt to break in every year. Half a million succeed. Border security is homeland security. How, then, can the Department of Homeland Security say America is secure?
Who can guarantee that, of the untold millions of illegals here, and the scores of thousands ordered deported for crimes who have disappeared into our midst, none is a terrorist waiting for orders to blow up a subway or mall and massacre American citizens?
Most of these illegals come to work to send money back to their families. They are not bad people. But because they are predominantly young and male, they commit a disproportionate share of violent crimes.
Why should U.S. citizens be assaulted, robbed, raped and murdered, and have their children molested, because their government will not enforce its own laws?
Is this not an indictment of democracy itself? What dictatorial regime would put up with this?
The Republican Party claims to be a conservative party. But what kind of conservative is it who, to cut a few costs or make a few bucks, will turn his family's home into a neighborhood flop house?
In a recent poll, 40 percent of Mexicans 40 million people said they would like to come to the United States, and 20 percent expressed a willingness to break in. Time to cut the babble about how NAFTA is going to solve the problem. This is a national emergency.
Twice, George Bush has taken an oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Article IV, Section 4 of that Constitution reads, "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion."
Well, we are being invaded, and the president of the United States is not doing his duty to protect the states against that invasion. Some courageous Republican, to get the attention of this White House, should drop into the hopper a bill of impeachment, charging George W. Bush with a conscious refusal to uphold his oath and defend the states of the Union against "invasion."
It may be the only way left to get his attention, before the border vanishes and our beloved country dissolves into MexAmerica, what T.R. called a "polyglot boarding house for the world."
Fortunately Mexicans are much nicer lot than Albanian Muslims.
Thanks.
This makes me feel much better about our Southwest being overrun by the dregs of Mexican society.
In truth there are good arguments for migrant labor but the one aspect that befuddles me more than any other is the advocates' willingness to have government subsidize the laborer and his/her family. Businessmen scream about protecting free enterprise from government interference, yet here they want Mommy government's help. Go figure.
Not only have Richardson and Napolitano awakened
Both are big time supporters of "travelers." Here they get a two-fer. They can embarrass the mainline Republican Party and, as a bonus for clearing up the border, they provide safe passage for the next twenty percent of Mexico who want to "travel" here ILLEGALLY if they must.
And why the Republican electorate has not risen up is beyond me...
I know if the 'Rats were in the WH and a majority in Congress,
Republicans would be up in arms!
Semper Fi,
Kelly
OUCH! Don't you guys just HATE IT when Pat Buchanan lobs one right on target?
"Guest worker" is a LIE. It's nothing more than a politically-correct code word for "amnesty". How many of those guest workers are _ever_ going to return home?
The Immigration Bomb is going to cost the Republicans seats in the 2006 elections (even if they don't lose control of the House and Senate), and it's going to cost them the presidency in 2008.
The Democrats are going to edge by "to the right" on the immigration and border enforcement issues enough so that they will steal it from conservatives as _the_ issue to run [and win] with in the '08 election. Yes, yes, yes, I know, I know, I know (does that convince you not to repeat it to me) that their position is a false one, and that they have no intention of doing anything but encouraging _more_ illegals to pour in. But politics is no longer about fulfilling your promises (hmmm, was it ever?) - it's about winning and KEEPING power. This has become as true for the young _Republicans_ as it ever was for the Democrats. With very few exceptions, they ALL stand to betray American citizens.
As Bill Clinton suckered gullible Americans in 1992 with his promise of "a middle class tax cut", so will Hillary again sucker them in 2008 with her promise of a "secure" America. You and I know she has absolutely NO intention of closing the borders or rounding up anyone (except the ultra-righties, haha). But that ain't the way it's going to play to the American People during the campaign.
As one who lives in a suburban Connecticut town that has been inundated by illegals, perhaps my view has become tainted. But I'm reaching the point where I realize, sadly, that we are fast approaching that point in American history where it is becoming all but impossible to do much of anything to reverse, or even slow, the onrushing tides of illegals.
We are like New Orleans facing the onrushing hurricane Katrina.
The immigration problem will never be confronted because the ONLY guaranteed, no-nonsense means to halt the onrushing hordes is seen as extreme and undoable - that is, a well-constructed security barrier (OK, let's be blunt, a WALL) between the U.S. and Mexican borders, and quite possibly along portions of the Canadian one, as well.
They will never be built. The media would scream "Berlin Wall" and any national politician who dared suggest the notion of a barrier will be forced to slink away in shame.
But having actually been on _both_ sides of the Berlin Wall when it still stood, I can attest to you that such barriers indeed work - they do exactly the job they were built for. That's why a wall between the U.S. and Mexico can never be built - because, quite simply, it would WORK.
There is an awful, awful truth that we of the right must face:
1. The Democrats do not want an immigration solution that "works".
2. The Republicans do not want an immigration solution that "works".
Where does that leave us?
- John
I'll tell you exactly where. We are in the pre-stage of a civil war right here on American soil. The entire southwest is a tenderbox just waiting for the right match. When it is lit, that fire will spread across the country and blood will run in the streets. Stock up on ammo and supplies now because dark days are ahead of us because no one in either party and I mean NO ONE has the courage to address this issue in a sane and sensible manner before things reach the point of no return.

Say what you want about Pat. He's not wrong on this and if you are honest with yourself AND look at the law....you know this.
"They can embarrass the mainline Republican Party..."
And who put the Republican Party in this position? They did it to themselves sucking hind tit off of business interests, and to hell with the security of the country.
Profits over security. Business interests over keeping this nation safe.
This same Governor stated a few weeks back that he SUPPORTED giving illegal invaders drivers licenses in New Mexico because : "It was important for them to have p[roper documents that would aid them to assimilate into USA society".
What a two faced hypocrite.......How can New Mexico keep voting him into office?
They will break our doors down to remove our guns before they EVER try to stop illegal immigration.
Protect our borders and coastlines from all foreign invaders!
Support our Minutemen Patriots!
Be Ever Vigilant ~ Bump!
In case you missed the most important sentence of the article...
"if you are honest with yourself"
Don't expect such behavior from your average Bushbot.
so conservatives have been howling about this for years, yet no media coverage. and then the dims finally get it thru their skuls that immigration is a campaign issue and they cry "emergency" now the msm is crying about the conservatives not doing anything about it, when they've been blocking efforts for years.
Not always. They can be really nasty too.
