Hurricane Katrina Live Thread, Part VI
NOAA - NHC ^ | 28 August 2005 | NOAA - NHC

Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.

Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

HERSHEY = (break a hershey's bar in "half" and you get...)

Hers + HEY! :)

That is my Copyrighted Hershey's commercial.

is it morally wrong of me to have a bag of hershey's kisses that my husband does not know about just in case the power goes out. Do I have to share?

You only need concern yourself about being caught if you don't share.

This particular husband knows if there are hershey's kisses being secreted. It's a sixth sense.

Looking at CNN, I cannot believe that traffic jam -- with one whole side of the road EMPTY.

There are days when I am really glad that I don't hold certain jobs. Today would be one of them. Those people are going to need a bonus when this is finished.

we can only hope that the city officials have been consulted by the engineering firm that designed this particular building.

Stop by the engineer's house tonight and measure how bad his hands are shakin' when he's pouring the scotch.

"Did your son arrive safely this afternoon? Everything secured ?"

Yes and yes. A tornado south of Dauphin Island was just reported.

Seriously, would you accept French aid if it was offered?

Of course. The poor souls down there will need all the help they can get, the way things are shaping up.

"It is not the crude, it is the REFINING that is the problem." It is not the crude, it is the DEMOCRATS (and their stance towards drilling) that are the problem.

And of course Bush and Numerous GOP leaders have gone TV over the years vis SOTU speeches etc etc to alert the public to this fact

Yeah right

I fear that after tonight the SuperDome will become the world's largest refuge camp.

"French aid" is an oxymoron.

I think Shep beat him to it. CNN just showed a picture of I-10 coming north out of New Orleans. It is a jam-packed parking lot.

and He is :) I hope that the media has exaggerated again as they have in the past although I don't have the same feeling about this as I have had in the past...I was in NO at the World's Fair (I believe it was 1984) and they had several days of thunderstorms and I remember seeing parked cars with water up to the windows...no hurricane, just rain storms...
