Hurricane Katrina Live Thread, Part VI
NOAA - NHC ^ | 28 August 2005 | NOAA - NHC

Posted on 08/28/2005 2:38:16 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.

Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

It's wetter than a Water Mocassin that is hiding in a John boat which has sprung a leak and is sinking in a Texas rancher's stock pond, boy howdy!

Tom, I've heard that all suck-up points expire 60 minutes after being issued. Better violate something now. Like tell someone they can kiss your royal ...

I don't think so. Hotels will probably be putting people up in the hallways, banquet rooms, etc.

"It is not the crude, it is the REFINING that is the problem."

It is not the crude, it is the DEMOCRATS (and their stance towards drilling) that are the problem.

My husband would defer to your expertise. Architects really only understand the principles involved, while engineers are the experts on such matters.

The question in his mind is... when the wind blows horizontally across the roof, wouldn't a vacuum be created on the side fronting the wind?

Would you happen to know how this particular roof is tied into the walls? That seems important in this situation.

All of this is worried speculation, and we can only hope that the city officials have been consulted by the engineering firm that designed this particular building.

An interview you would only see on Fox. CNN would never let that lady evangelize like that.

"how many countries are going to donate to the families devastated by this natural disaster. We could essentially lose one of our cities."

Well, I wouldn't hold my breathe for very long to see how many countries come to our aide.... How many helped after 9/11?

Bush would have to make a national appeal to businesses that can allow workers to telecommute - to do so. or put some kind of car pooling mandate in place. if this turns out as bad as it looks for the gasoline supply, intervention is needed.

IMHO Laurie Dhue isn't very good.

I believe I could live with her deficiencies. ;-)
