If you or your family is in the path of Hurricane Katrina, if you would like to, please "sign in" here so that we can keep track of our people as this storm progresses, especially after the storm has passed.
Oh - I'm in Central Texas, so I don't think we need to worry much... but I am desperately hoping for a miracle for all those in harms way tonight, and prayers that my daughter's neck of the woods (Pensecola and Destin) will be spared...
I think I'll go call my daughter and make sure she's alright.
TD-13 just formed in the Atlantic.
Here a few miles southwest of Montgomery. Just got my new roof on from Ivan. I-65 is packed. I live on a horse farm. They are already spooked. Haven't seen them like this before. My trainer south of here is seriously considering tranqilizing some of them, they are that nervous. My bil is in Atmore near Mobile and have plenty of kin and friends all along the coast. Prayers for all.
Our kids are in Starkpatch. I remember Camille having winds of 100 as it passed over Jackson.
We are completely boarded up and have done everything humanly possible to make our home secure. I just wish our neighbors would follow our example. So many people around here are quite complacent.
Bless you and all the emergency workers who will have the wretched clean up jobs. Stay safe.

Oh, Lordy-- let's hope we don't have a hurricane a week, like last year.
I just opened a fallback post on our sister site, Free Dominion, in case ours slows too much from the load:

Wow! You've really got a lot of kin folk. My family is very tiny. I have my dad, one brother, 2 nieces, 1 aunt and 6 first cousins. LOL
My wife's Dad is 92 yrs old, hunkered down in their house in Lutcher (he and stepmom). That's about 35 miles south of Baton Rogue. Her oldest son is with them, but he has a bad back. They were not able to board up their windows, and her Dad is not in good health.
They are also ~100 yards from the Mississippi River levee; my wife tells me it should be fine that far north. I suppose my biggest concern is the wind; this thing has me scared for them. We're praying for you guys.

In far southwestern NY state here. If any storm-battered Freeper without a home needs help, we will do what we can to find temporary housing up here for you.
Our house is very small, but we know where there are lots of inexpensive rentals in Chautauqua County. Fall is beautiful here, and the summer tourists have all left.
Our prayers are with you all.
Here in north Covington strong winds and heavy rain just set in. The sky was dark and there was little breeze when suddenly gumball sized drops of freezing rain came pelting down.
If you're not where you want to be then you better pray to God you make it. Because the weather level here sucks.

May God keep the people in Katrina's wake safe.
From what, besides hurricanes?
Thanks Bogey780, my wife, 3 sons, and I are safe (and hot) in Austin, I should have said so. We're heading to Church right now, and we'll all be praying for the folks affected by this, and of course for all the Churches/relief groups trying to assist in the aftermath.
Just lost power. Shuttibg dowb for now
Thanks Howlin! Starting to get feeder bands now, looks like it will be a rocky morning here. Will post during storm if power and phone lines stay up.
Thanks again,
LLS
(((BOGEYYY)))
Family prayer circle hard at work tonight for all our brothers and sisters down there.
I know you are worried; let us know when you hear ANYTHING.
