This has been predicted for years, it is one that has been feared in NO, and the attitude that was just displayed on Fox News is what was the biggest concern.

Fools...I find it hard to even raise a prayer for them. God watches over fools...isn't that what they say? I hope so, 'cause I can't. My heart breaks to see this slow motion catastrophe happening.

Remember, one person doesn't respresent "all" within the crescent city.

It would seem Old Hickory only bought the city a couple hundred years more of existence...hopefully the storm will go the way that a Cat 5 did not to long ago (Can't remember the name of the storm but it stayed off shore, lost strength, drifted back out to sea to die.)

Those people in the bar are like those who mocked Moses for building an ark.

God promised he would never flood the Earth again, but it's starting to look like he is going to flood New Orleans one way or another.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Hurricane Party

The hurricane may lend its name to a popular and potent alcoholic drink, but a tropical storm is no place to hold a party. Hi, I'm Dave Thurlow and this is The Weather Notebook.

On August 17, 1969, a group of 24 people on the Gulf Coast decided it would be fun to have a party. For most of them, though, that party would be their last. The bash was in honor of Hurricane Camille, which was moving north toward the towns of Gulfport and Pass Christian, Mississippi.

Instead of evacuating, the group decided to hunker down in the Richelieu Apartments, right on the coast, and enjoy the show. But Camille proved to be an inhospitable guest of honor. A few hours before reaching landfall, Camille strengthened dramatically, reaching Category 5--the highest rating on the hurricane scale. So far, Camille is the only hurricane to hit the U.S. coast this century that would acquire that status.

Whoever gave the nickname "The Big Easy" to New Orleans really knew what he was talking about.

The people down there are so laid-back and, well, VERY lazy that they just refuse to protect themselves from disaster.

It is actually a holdover from the French influence.
