Katrina is emerging into the very warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico early this morning after making landfall in SE Florida, then tracking SW. Thus far, she is well ahead of schedule, leaving at least four fatalities in her wake, and well over 1 million without electricity.

Fantastic, Grandma!
She's a sweet little beauty! FR weather threads are really up-to-the-minute way to get NEWS! (Get some horizontal time now...you're gonna need it!)
the rain is all all nothing at all
it's not driving down here
every so often someone just opens a spigot and it comes down
.
I'm glad you made it home when you did.
I think you're pretty well out of it, from what I can see.
Looks like on the radar you are not quite getting the heaviest bands there yet, this last one that came through was rockin'
Hussy thread hijacker...grumble, mumble...
..Enjoy your sweet granddaughter!
According to local news, four people were killed during its pass through South Florida. Most were killed by falling trees. They think since it was (only) cat 1 that people felt they could go outside and check on things.
Well, she has to be a future Bush babe, because she was on time!!! Congratulations; she is beautiful!
As I recall from last year's hurricane threads, you're on Key West. That looks like a nasty system over you right now. Hope you're safe inside with everything battened down.
.
this one is a walk in the park
I may go soap up the car between bands
Stay dry
.
Otherwise, this thread is in breaking news to alert folks who are concerned about their property and their lives.
Heard about the death toll--a real shame.
She's a keeper, Howlin. What a doll, lucky you. Congrulations, proud Grandma!
sw
Agreed. And I should have thought of that before I posted.
Mornin' NautiNurse.
When I woke up and turned on the news, first thing I thought about was you.
Y'all hang in there.
Now *that's* lovely. Our friends are supposed to leave for their house on Cape San Blas today, and we're supposed to join them next Thursday for a long Labor Day weekend. Sure hope that main group of tracks doesn't happen, they'd get hammered.
heh--if I didn't make it home last night, I would have been camping in your home state for a day or so (flight cxn thru DFW).
