Movie theater attendance has been trending downward for years. Everyone has an opinion on the reason.

Hmmm, Nice eyes.
It's ironic that the liberal Hollywood is whining about the movie business is in a slump, were we had Mel Gibson spent $ 45 million of his own money on THE PASSION , and he brought in well over 500 million with his movie.
Even though I didn't bother to read your comment, THANKS FOR THE PICS!
Historically, and I think this is still true, film and theatre revenues increase during resessions (also during the 1930s Depression.)
So, if economic things are going badly for the nation, the Hollywood elite are sitting pretty.
Hmmmmmmmmm?
Sadly, the resemblance has really disappeared since Lindsay turned herself into an anorexic, bleach-bottle blonde lollipop.
Isn't it amazing that his movie, Passion of Christ" was a runaway best seller? Seems as though te folks in Hollyweird would get a clue, doesn't it?
That girl has great posture.
I think the last film I saw in the theater was the third Star Wars installment. Before that, maybe the Incredibles or Ring Two (I know, it was a wretched film... but I'm a die hard...) There was a time, back in the early-mid 90s, when I could see three a day (seriously) but those are LONG over.
One of the greatest movies ever made.
I'm sure the co-ed shower scene has nothing to do with your opinion. :)
Listen, there have always been certain theatres where the, uh, "ethnic" crowd likes to go to yell at the screen. I've avoided these theatres for most of my life, so I've never had any problems.
They're at least $10.25 here in Manhattan, and IMAX movies are even more. It's such a ripoff.
I don't think a fancy decor could make up for a clunker like "Bewitched". I saw if for $1.50 this past weekend and still felt cheated. How could they screw up a ready made situation like Bewitched, especially since they hired decent talent like Nicole Kidman, Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine? They forgot to hire a writer. $80 million for a production budget and they couldn't find a competent writer?
The movie had a few yoks, true. But the script must have been produced by some jerk who pulled an all-nighter to make a deadline.
fabulous bone structure
The article is missing the point.
Pretty theaters are "nice" but pointless given the current product.
In does not matter what environment or how "archetechy" a theater, I will not see any movie which has:
-Jane Fonda
-G. Clooney
-Anything by Michel Moore
-any homosexual theme
-any political correctness undertone
-Rosie O Donuts
-Madona (still working on the fake british accent)
-towing the blame america first line
-bashing christians as eeeevil while promoting sensitivity to anything other than christians.
-promoting big governmetn as the solution to all social ills
-promoting conservatism as a social ill
I am sure I missed a few points of detraction,
but there is no reason to spend MY money for THEIR political validation.
Just because some idiot suit gives a hollyweid director a blank check, does not make me obligated to give BOTH of them a single penny.
Cool site!
but if it was not for the slide shows you would not know you local "Tan-o-rama" will give you a 2% discount (with your ticket stub) at your next tanning session.
It will not be long before theaters figure out how to charge patrons EXTRA for showings without commercials.
I always find it interesting that so many BIG SMASH HITS, WITH BIG NAME STARS end up in the humble bargain bin.
