DONNELLY, Idaho (AP) -- President Bush has rapped sharp critics of his Iraq war policy, saying they advocate a position that would weaken the United States.
Moore, Fonda and the like are obviously in another class but my guess is that if we started enforcing treason the way we did during WW2 and earlier then there would be another Civil War. During WW2 wouldn't have even a peaceful protest with innocuous 'Peace' signs been seen as an act of sedition?
I'm aware that such rulings could put critics of the government in jeopardy.
President Clinton sure used the OKC bombings to silence his critics and pressure stations to drop some syndicated shows like GG Liddy. He ran demonization of "far right extremists" to a successful re-election. Even focused national security on the threat "they" posed.
Sedition isn't a crime. There are laws against it from time to time but they always expire or are repealed over time.
What foreign enemy have far right groups ever partnered with? During what war?
This is a prerequesite for treason.
If some Americans held their ground and still opposed the KLA in word and deed, would they be guilty of treason? The government had to reclassify the KLA to provide this "former" terrorist organization aid.

I thought what you said was GREAT and bears repeating: "Bush has no critics to answer, only terrorists and their sympathizers, all of whom hate this country and would like to see it brought low."
This too: "Our parents and grandparents hunkered down and fought... Did they blink?"
And this: "The 1960s really set a rot in America, with weak-kneed boomers having raised spineless consumerists unwilling to trade one comfort for freedom."
Still, I'm on the edge- of the BOOMERANG (Man, that was pretty good if I do say so myself : ) My family, and apparently many others, judging from this forum, weren't raised like that.
We don't see much on this today. There were pro-Nazi Americans and some who didn't care.
Certainly before Dec. 7th.
I hear that the Communists even didn't care about Hitler until he turned on Stalin.
I think that there may have been laws against sedition during WWII. Certainly there were saboteurs in America but they weren't tried for treason.
I have a book from 1942 about the pro-Nazi Americans (from an anti-Nazi stance) but have seen something online to indicate that the book was more sensationalism than fact. Don't know. Found it cheap at a library sale but haven't delved into it.
Michael Moore, #1 in Bernard Goldberg's new book "100 People Screwing Up America", will be remembered by our grandchildren much as we remember one of his WW II soulmates, Ezra Pound: artiste, fascist, anti-semite and AAF (All American Flake.)

Time not only heals all wounds, it wounds all heels.
GulfofTonkinYachtClub, I believe, would like an answer to that too.

"Was Jane Fonda a traitor?"
Yes, and she should have been put up against a wall.
These protesters are generating aid to the OUTSIDE the USA media. CNN in europe is pushing Sheehan as if ALL of the USA agrees with her and GWBush is holed up in the ranch hiding from her. (see Wacco)
These protesters KNOW that outside the USA MSM will push this, outside the USA the public does not have a new media to turn to.
It's possible that the hundreds of thousands, even over a million Iraqi males eligible to crush the insurgency would actually crush the insurgency. Why does everyone think that Iraqis can't handle this problem when they have no one else to handle it for them? We're enabling them in their infantilism.
Oh before Pearl Harbor its pretty well documented. The 'Bund' held a rally at Madison Square Garden in 1940 or 1941 advocating Nazism as up and coming political party in America. After PH however they went off the radar and if they tried a rally like that during WW2 I have no doubt they would have been arrested.
Trivia: Iva Toguri (Tokyo Rose) is still alive and living in CA.
I've only been on here a month or so, but I lurked for a long time, and you'd have to be blind not to notice way more anti-War posts than before. I put it down to too many summer cocktails in backyard BBQs. There'll be a wobble, but as 9/11 comes round again we should shake off our indulgences and get with the program, which is not surrendering to terrorists who want to destroy our country and our way of life.
In this day of high tech, the enemy receives their comfort and aid from the protesters within the hour. Thank you media.
Treason is a crime by a person(citizen) owing allegiance to the United States which threatens the security of the Nation. The offense is covered under Federal Statutes, Title 18, USCS, (Crimes and Criminal Procedure) Section 238111 which defines treason as follows: Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned for not less than five years, and fined not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States. (Emphasis added) The concept of 'adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort' was further defined by the Supreme Court as: 'Strengthening or tending to strengthen the ability of the enemies of the United States, or which weakens or tends to weaken the power of the United States to resist and attack such enemies.'12
LOL. Good grief, Laz.
She isn't close, she's gone over the line.
She calls insurgents freedom fighters and calls US troops murderers.
Always good when you show up! Well said.
