Cindy Sheehan's son Casey died in Sadr City last year, and that is supposed to put her beyond reproach. For as the New York Times' Maureen Dowd informed us: "The moral authority of parents who bury children killed in Iraq is absolute."

"If youre interested in the war, which admittedly a lot of Canadians arent, this is a depressing time to be from the senior Dominion."
In other words, Mark knows his countrymen will ignore what he says here - just as the rest of the world doesn't take Canada seriously.
Has anyone interviewed or talked to any members of Casey's squad, or his CO? I sure would like to know what their view of his mom's antics are, and what they think Casey would have thought about them too.
It's a shame, the U.S.would be grateful for a little burden sharing from our northern neighbor.
But really, the military must refrain from speaking into these emotional domestic disputes. They'd only serve to distract them from their mission.
Mark Steyn makes an excellent point that Casey was an adult by any measure and he made an adult decision to volunteer for this dangerous mission.
Instead of Casey being remembered for the patriotism and bravery he demonstrated as a soldier, his mother is trashing his memory and cheapening the cause of his sacrifice.
Casey surely would not agree with his mother's exploitation of his death: voluntary and sacrificial.
"Has anyone interviewed or talked to any members of Casey's squad, or his CO?"
Speaking for myself, I wouldn't annoy them with this crap, nor would I want to lend her antics the dignity of discussing them with warriors.
Australia gives Canada some pointers (Aussies point out what's wrong with Canada's weasels policy)"
Great article!
What a great "fisking" of "Mother Sheehan" and the looney left.
I guess "fisking" isn't the right word.
What a great "Steyning" of the moonbat left.
That's better.
Steyn PING. I wasn't sure if you had seen this.
Don't need to. Spc. Casey Sheehan speaks from the grave. Or so the "Camp Cindy" people claim. Read the sign attached to a replica of his coffin: "George please speak with my mother."
It's disgusting how they are exploiting him isn't it?
I've just wondered why we haven't seen a single friend of relative of Casey's come forward with a letter or e-mail that he wrote them where he described, in his own words, his feelings about the war, and whether or not he thought we should finish the mission.
Those letters have to exist.
I've heard enough from the unhinged mom. Let's let Casey himself speak. I suspect he may have had a difference in opinion.
"Steyning Maureen",LOL! I like that!
See post 12.
I just saw that. Absolutely shameful.
Does ANYBODY care much for Old Mo?
(We know Michael Douglas doesn't...but does anyone?)
And what is it with this "George" business? When I first saw a story about Cindy Sheehan, she was spouting left and left: "Meet with me, George!" "Why won't you talk to me, George?" "Let's tell George we oppose his war!" ad nauseum.
Not exactly the smartest way to elicit sympathy from the leader of the free world.
The Commander in Chief should never stoop to meet with someone that so grossly disrespects him and his office.
