The Washington Times reports that Gov. Bill Richardson, D-NM, has successfully called for the destruction of a "staging area" across the New Mexico border with Mexico. These are shelters which provide water and some other humanitarian benefits to Mexican nationals seeking to cross the border to the U.S. Another interesting use of these facilities is to provide a bartering point for "coyotes" who charge a fee to help Mexicans cross the border.
These sites are maintained by Groupo Beta, a humanitarian organization funded by the Mexican government. According to the Washington Times report, they drive around in orange trucks stocking the staging areas with water adn supplies. They also handed out flyers a few months back warning people near the Arizona border that the Minute Men were on the other side "waiting to hurt them."
It makes one curious why the Bush Administration cannot accomplish on a large scale what the New Mexico Governor has on a small scale. Why have they not demanded the Vicente Fox government back off of facilitating the crossings and, in effect, the horrendous trade in human lives conducted by coyotes?
Now I ask ya. Is that the way to treat a good neighbor?
Isn't it time you started managing your country in a manner that would encourage your folks to stay home? Are they so oppressed in the land of their birth that they are forced to abandon it -- to even risk life and limb to earn a small fistful of dollars in a border country?
Whoa! If they even settle for poverty level here, what could the poverty level possibly be in Mexico? Never mind. I really don't want to know.
Shame! Shame! Shame!
I do believe we will see the day come when Americans will be removed from their homes in TX, AZ and CA by our own troops just like what happened in Gaza this week......sad, sad, sad.
Isn't New Mexico state good enough for them to accept as a gift? I resent that exclusion. ;>
"Mexico funds staging areas for illegals."
Fire for effect.
maybe someone should deploy several minefields to DEFEND OUR BORDERS FROM FOREIGN INVASION AS A MATTER OF NATONAL SECURITY!!
Because the POTUS has been playing footsie with Vicente Fox for several years. And Fox has been unambiguous in his support of illegal Mexican immigration to the US. As to why Bush has played along with Fox? I am not sure. But it can't be anything I'd like to hear.
Perhaps I misunderstand, but are you suggesting that we vote for the poseur lib Demonrats trying to cash in on Bush Administration lameness on this issue? And in throwing the house, senate, and presidency to the Demorats, punish the Republican leadership so they will do better next time. Next time may be another 40 years.
Yeah, but these are definitely not sane times.Uncle Sucker sends troops to help another country's security, but won't protect ours!
Hey, good one!
Excellent. Check my tag.
Third party, not Democrats. And I highly doubt that it would happen in large enough numbers to throw all three political domains to the Democrats in a single election (ceratinly not '06, since the Presidency's not up for grabs that year). But if the trend starts to grow, it could start to make the Republicans nervous. As it is currently, they have no incentive to perform.
Mmm, seems to me this could be considered an act of war.
Heavens, what's all the fuss about? The CFR calls them 'trusted travelers'. (Twenty million illegals already here and now half of the remainder of Mexico's hapless population...fifty million...would like to come to the US. This doesn't count the rest of Central and South America, a good many of whom are already here or on their way.) Never mind, all this will be a distant memory when the Happy Hemisphere, open borders crowd get their dearest wish. Free trade, including drugs and terrorism, free travel, with good old Uncle Sam picking up the tab.
100% correct...is that you Karl?
