Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Intelligent Design

You know that TV crocodile hunting team Steve and Terri Irwin? Well those two can expect some competition in days to come. Scientists in northern Australia have been collecting blood from crocodiles in hopes of saving humans.

Studies in the late 90s showed that several antibodies in croc blood killed penicillin-resistant bacteria. More recently it has been discovered that crocodiles’ immune systems can kill the HIV virus. American scientist Mark Merchant says the reptiles “tear limbs off each other, [but] they heal up very rapidly and normally, almost always without infection.” Aussie scientist Adam Britton adds: “The crocodile has an immune system which attaches to bacteria and tears it apart and it explodes. It’s like putting a gun to the head of the bacteria and pulling the trigger.”

These two scientists draw blood from wild and captive crocs, saltwater and freshwater species. After capturing the donor, they strap its jaws and go for a vein. The vein, Britton says, is “called a sinus, right behind the head, and it’s very easy just to put a needle in the back of the neck and hit this sinus and then you can take a large volume of blood very simply.”

It’ll be years, of course, before croc blood is ready for human use. Their antibodies are so powerful they may have to be diluted. But this is pretty remarkable on two fronts. Once again, proof that embryonic stem cells aren’t the only “miracle” cure for all that ails us. And more importantly, understanding how crocodiles heal points to a pretty intelligent design in nature. Now when are the animal rights people going to start complaining to stop all of this?

Whenever I'm feeling prideful all I have to do is show up in a evo thread and I'm instantly humbled by their greatness.

No, He doesn't. He loves all MANKIND with an everlasting love. That's much more than he loves fish and puppies in my opinion(although since God IS love incarnate, He loves everything he created.)He had a special plan for mankind and still does, if we'd listen.

Just so you know, my church doesn't encourage literalism. I have and do read the Bible on a regular basis, but I also don't believe that literalism is a good thing. Thinking that one has a lock on the truth is what leads to making asinine statements like the ones you are making about accepting THE BIBLE. I accepted CHRIST. The Bible is a BOOK. Christ is the SAVIOR. See the difference? I don't have to take man's interpretation of God's word literally to know what God wants for me....God wants for me what He wants for all of us: The best. And that's what I get in Mass every Saturday night.

how do you know Christ is your Saviour if you dont take the Bible literally? How do you determine what is and is not to be taken literally and what is and is not true in the Bible? What is your measuring stick, so to speak?

How does irreducible complexity misrepresent any of those? Be specific.

It misrepresents biology. It pretends to know that a particular structure is incapable of any function whatsoever if it is changed in any way. Needless to say, one would actually require complete omniscience to be able to rule out the viability of every conceivable variation. Anyone who claims that they can prove a system of even moderate complexity "Irreducible" is selling you snake oil.

Because Christ existed. Period. As for Adam and Eve, I know a fable when I hear one. And as I have said, literalism breeds a lot of problems.....if you want literalism, try the Koran. They have a lock on the truth, too.

2/3 of Americans don't believe in evolution, so it cracks me up how the "elites" around here marginalize the majority.

What cracks *me* up is the creationist notion that truth is determined by a popularity contest, especially on complex or technical issues...

In any case, you're wrong about how many Americans "don't believe in evolution".

A peer reviewed paper from the ICS? That's like having Tomas de Torqemada discuss the finer points of Judaica.....

Try this out. Physical laws are physical laws. Period. No matter what the ICS says.

And does Genesis square with science? Nope.

I was listening, again. It pumps you up doesn't it. That was from the heart too, I wish that when I post here on FR I could put my thoughts together that well to express the same feelings.

Thanks Rush.

Really, exactly where in Genesis does it conflict with science, note I said science not evolution, there is a difference.

Force, what will happen is that you'll be listening, and so much of what you already believe will just come bubbling up, and you won't have to think hard about it, it will just flow. I've had moments like that here at FR, where I intended to say a few words, and I then wrote a book. I'm fairly sure that is what happened to Rush.

Your right, that makes perfect sense. I hear so much politics that when a particular subject comes up I can't remember all the great points made previously by others I agreed with and want to repeat. There are some FReeper's here that really know there stuff inside and out.

I do not accept a literal interpretation of creation stories.

I posted no 'story'.

God gave us a brain, and it's a slap in His face to not use it.
Then why do you dismiss so much of HIS word?

Just what 'god' do you believe in, and WHY?

Interesting, how come there are different races of people then, would that not require evolution???

Nope: according to ToE, they have to become so unlike, that they no long breed 'true' (whatever THAT means).

We are ALL Human: Homo Sapiens.

I'm sure you do not look like your mother, so did she have some kinda mutation??

(No, I wouldn't ask your brother that ;^)
