Question:
Ignoring all legal issues....
Would you care/object if your children's teacher was openly (not flaming) gay?
Would it make any difference if the gay teacher was male or female?
Would it make any difference if the gay person taught elementary, middle school or high school?
I would not want any "openly" gay teacher anywhere near my grandchildren.
A statement based on no evidence, as usual.
I think it's sad that so many folks refuse to see the changed lives in ex-gays, some of whom are freepers.
I would agree with that statement as well.
Figure it out. Its not that hard.
LOL -yes I can see the corrallary... where else on FR can a morally devoid 'conservative' have opportunity to surreptiously bash moral conservatives and bash religious and religion? Guilty pleasure about sums it up you sicko...
when the person becomes a teacher with authority over children IT DOES BECOME EVERYONE'S business.
It is no diffent than the pot smoker trying to say smoking pot in private has no effect during business hours. (or alcholism, or perscription drug abuse, or any other addiction)
I don't. I'm just pointing out a very basic point of statistics and research- a study based on a self-selecting pool of subjects is pretty much useless. It would be like going over to DU and asking its posters to vote on whether or not the President is doing a good job.
My wife and I are our children's teachers. I can categorilly state that neither of us are gay. I would have a real issue with it if my kids had an openly gay teacher in a public school, since the impression would be given that there is nothing wrong with it, which is contrary to the beliefs that we are trying to get put forth.
as usual -here we are AGAIN on a homosexual thread -if you are now against the homosexual agenda THAT would be unsual... The 'evidence' in confrimation is your posting to me -duh...
My wife is older than I. She had a grown son - in his 20's. He got married and had children. If you to get technical, they are considered step-grandchildren, but we skip that nonsense.
The problem is that, as my fictional student-teacher conversation demonstrates, "lifestyle" becomes a nearly self-evident fact, to a good many students, in simple conversations that do not directly discuss or address that "lifestyle".
Therefore, the standard you proposed could never be met by a "gay" teacher, no matter what. Almost any normal answer to about a zillion everyday things would be revelatory of distinct suggestions of their "lifestyle".
Yet, you want to suggest that you are not making an absolute rejection of any and all "gay" teachers, but you are. Because the reality of applying your standard could only be met my heterosexual teachers.
I am not suggesting you do not have a right to your opinion about gay teachers, but please don't pretend that the standard you suggested would provide any clearance for them, it wouldn't.
I could only speculate. Why don't you contact People Can Change and ask them?
Nothing bogus about pointing out flaws in experimental design.
What you call bogus Dr. Spitzer considered quite compelling. Compelling enough to completely change his mind that gays can go straight. And considering who Dr. Robert Spitzer is, what he's done for the homosexual community and the backlash he as received for this study, that's quite a reversal.
"If the study is faulty, any conclusions drawn from such a study are also faulty.
A study based on self-selecting volunteers is worse than useless. It is wholly misleading. That's statistics 101."
Shhhh... Some of the folks here may not have taken that yet.
It would depend a lot on how I found out he was openly gay. In the CG I worked with a lady who had a partner and owned a house with this woman. Both were in the CG and you couldn't pry from her that she was a lesbian.
It wasn't our business and it didn't matter. My wife works with a very good math teacher in her association who is gay. Situation is the same there. He owns a house with another guy, and other than that the topic doesn't come up. He's gay by assumption, and is somewhat effeminate.
Beyond that, how would you tell?
They're not ex-gay- they're just bisexuals who are now engaging in heterosexual, rather than homosexual, sex.
You can't turn a gay person straight, any more than you can turn a straight person gay. There are, however, people who are attracted to both sexes, in various degrees.
Tell me- how would you classify a woman who spends her college years sexually involved only with other women, but who ends up marrying a man and remaining faithful to him?
I understand. Good for you...you're doing it the right way. We just couldn't figure out how to do it when neither one of us had kids already. So I was just joshing you.

Until the government is entirely removed from education in this country they should. It is in the best interest of the students that they do. I don't think I need to list examples of people that should be kept out of teaching by the government (employer).
I would pull my child out in any scenario.
