The Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com is holding a rally in Crawford, Texas today to show America's support for our troops, President Bush and the war on terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.
The rally will be held at noon at the Crawford Civic Center at 1000 4th Street.
Freepers are coming from near and far to join the H.O.T. Chapter in Crawford. If you live within four hours drive of Crawford, it's not too late to hit the road and get on down there.
Folks in attendance will be calling in to me, Brad's Gramma and Jeff Head with live updates from the scene. I am told that cellphone coverage in Crawford is spotty. However, it may have gotten better of late.
We'll see.
Hat's off to Basil, Doctor Raoul, The Sarce and 2ndAmendmentMama (and anyone else) who've been scrambling the past two days to make this happen. Good luck!

You're right on with that one Tonkin.
Logan's too little to take to a protest (he hates cars!! and no plane service to Crawford from here)... but you can bet we are doing our part.
I have just joined a quilt group that is making quilts for injured troop (men and women) and the quilts are given to them in the hospital. Great way to say "thank you" and to let them wrap themselves in love and comfort.

To tell you the truth, I am addicted to FR and the people who congregate on this forum.
Good Folks.
Back bone of America Folks.
More common sense espoused in one thread than in all the liberal web sites on the face of this planet.
Thanks FR.
For all you do for America.

ABSOLUTELY...they need numbers and as many patriotic supporters of our troops as they can get. They will be there all afternoon.
You will not be sorry.

What do you guess is the average age there? My 21 yr old niece returned from college totally brainwashed, she was seriously close to hysteria, scared and hateful. She really believed the consprazoids, and was truly afraid of the Pres.
Of course we had to calm her, and tell her the facts.
It has been a year and she is finally normal again, doing some reading on her own, and now thanks us.
Of course growing up a little helps, but mainly she saw that all of their lies and predictions never came true.

Otherwise we will have to depend on media pictures...You know as well as I that the legacy media will avoid pictures of us like the plague.
In the fwiw department, I'm enjoying the updates.

As I was getting groceries I thought of another thing to do - get with your VFW/Amer. Legion whatever and set up a Helping Husbands Handyman Line that the ladies left behind can call to get things around the house and while the guys are doing the repairs the ladies can do that girl stuff and bond maybe even become surrogate Gramma's and Granpa's.

Next one coming in maybe ten minutes. Had one attendee call who has a picture cell phone, but could only transfer them to another cell phone and could not get online and email them to me.
Said things are going great. Had a couple of what she called "hippies" come up thinking our rally was the "peace rally" and they politely pointed them in the right direction.

I'm thrilled they've had such a great turn out!!!!!!!
Still smarting a little because we weren't able to make it down to Crawford today, my hubby & I just delivered party platters of Texas Wings and Quesadillas to the soldiers at our local recruiting office!! We printed out what pics we could find of the folks in Crawford and taped them to the lids on the party platters!
The guys were genuinely moved to see the rally pics ~ they didn't know the rally was taking place and said "it's been a little ruff" for them lately and this rally was really appreciated! I promised to bring more pics by when I had 'em.....so I am looking for any and all pics to share with the soldiers up here!
If ya can, I'd sure appreciate it if someone could please ping me when some finally start coming online...okay!

I'm so glad the turnout looks so good. I'll be checking this thread often today. Thanks for the updates Jeff. We all appreciate so much. (Looking forward to the pics too)
