MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A former physical education teacher charged with having sex with a 13-year-old boy who attended the school where she worked agreed to a nine-month jail sentence in a plea deal Thursday and was immediately locked up.
Pamela Rogers Turner, 28, entered a no contest plea that allowed her to avoid a scheduled November trial on multiple charges of having sexual intercourse and oral sex with the teenager during a three-month relationship that started in November.
A court clerk said the nine months in jail is part of an eight-year sentence for the former homecoming queen previously described by the sheriff as "absolutely gorgeous."
Judge Bart Stanley accepted her plea and said the jail time would be followed by supervised probation. He also directed Turner to surrender her teaching certificate.
The mother of the teenager previously described Turner as a family friend and said she hoped there would not be a trial. District Attorney Dale Potter said Thursday that was part of the reason for the agreement.
Turner was arrested in February and freed on a $50,000 bond after investigators said they discovered the relationship. Potter has said Turner lived at the boy's house "for a brief period of time when she was moving from residence to residence" while she and her husband were divorcing.
Before resigning, Turner taught physical education and coached girls basketball two years at Centertown Elementary, a Warren County school for grades kindergarten through eight.
You too?! She looks like a bad female impersonator on the South Beach diet.
I understand. Which begs the question, I'll pose again: Doesn't the 'victim' have to press charges? That's the case in Iowa. Why did the boy's family press charges if they don't feel he's a victim.
My guess is if we dig deep enough you will find this is a family without an adult male in the household.
I think there is a father in the family. Very middle class. I remember a story coming out where the parents were denying this happened. They said the people who were doing the accusing were just busybodies. I don't think the "victim" has to press charges. The state takes it up. If I remember correctly, the parents were totally defending her. Neither one has admitted anything. I think thats why she took the plea bargain. So the boy wouldn't have to testify. I seem to remember a story in the paper, too, where the boy didn't want to go back to school cause there was so much talk going on. Also he was refused admittance to a private school cause the principal didn't want the distraction of the press outside the school.
"She brokethe law but the kid wasn't raped"
I'm sorry are there separate laws on the books for men and women that I haven't heard about?
This situation is not about having a relationship....it is about instant gratification......eventually we will all pay the piper.....
Something I'm sure he'll want to mention to his bride, no doubt.
Cordially,
thanks for that clarification. Apparently I was wrong. I'm glad to know the truth.
Ya think if the roles were reversed, they would give a guy the same sentence to spare the girl from having to testify?
Our culture reeks with hypocrisy...we cry out for equality....but.
Why would he want to do that? There are things husbands never discuss with their wives. One is you never talk about past relationships. Another is you always answer "no" to the question, honey does this make me look fat? Trust me he'll learn these truths before he even thinks about getting married, all men do.
With a 13 year old.. she's a sick sick piece of work... 9 months? No way....
Handsome is as handsome does later pingout.
Recently there was another thread on the same subject, but there was a guy on FR who actually had this happen to him. He is dealing with the emotional damage that was done to him. He is having a hard time with his relationships. He actually is seeing the whole picture of what happened to him.
Probably.
If your over 14 your out of luck...
Twelve Year Old Boy
Elmore James
I feel bad, I feel terrible, I'm just as sad as I can be
I feel bad, I feel terrible, I'm just as sad as I can be
I let a boy that's twelve years old, take my baby away from me
He used to hang around my grill, until late into the night
He used to hang around my grill, until late into the night
Well I never dreamed that my baby and that boy could be so tight
(Smokin' slide guitar solo......)
Well if a young boy hangs around you, you better do what I should have did
Well if a young boy hangs around you, you better do what I should have did
Well you send him over to your neighbors and hope your neighbors like kids
1. I'd hit it.
2. It is not rape (despite what the law might say).
3. Yes, it would be different if it was a male teacher and a female student.
4. That is a double standard.
5. The double standard is a good one, and reflects reality.
This mother let her flesh and blood down....
Excellent post.
I agree with every word.
